My husband's Townsends are from Iberville Parish, La, and St. Mary's Parish, La, and came to the Houston, TX area by 1920. They went back and forth between Houston and San Antonio for several years. They are from the Samuel Delmar Townsend line, going back to a John Townsend b ca 1820. I can't prove any indian, but suspect it's there, possibly Cherokee or Choctaw.
