I need help with a PARKER related ancestor's relation to the words in this word: SAPPELOKE Can anyone translate these words or meaning? Does anyone know why a family group would put this on their headstones? SAPPELOKE is also on the 1832 Fish Pond, AL Creek census. A female. Thank you. Vonda
My Creek ancestor Winnie HUNT was born 4 DEC 1797 in Unknown Georgia d.1851 AL. (I assume in Roberts Cummunity) She was said to have been a teacher in around Baldwin, Ga. She and her husband John PARKER migrated to "Roberts Community" Conecuh, AL sometime after 1814. Family rummor is that Winnie HUNT PARKER was the first teacher in Roberts Community, but I can't find any documentation on this. She is believed to have died abt.1851 and might be buried in the Elim Babtist Cemetery, the church that her husband John PARKER is said to have help found. I would think that there would be some documentation on a Creek woman who was the first teacher in of a town and who's husband was a founder of their local church, but I can't find any. Winnie HUNT PARKER's parents are even more of a mystery. I can't find any proof that they ever lived. They are said to be John HUNT who was "AKA - BIGBEE" and her mother, some people say was named Rebecca, but in Ann C. Water's book (An AL Historian) she writes that Winnie's mother was "Wulu". I have no idea what Wulu could mean. Doesn't seem like a complete Creek word, but I do not know the Creek language. I haven't been able to find anyone who knows much about this family. Their decendents, yes, but not the ancestors of Winnie HUNT. Seems as if her parents didn't survive to live in the 1800s. I don't know though. Any information is helpful. Thank you. Vonda

This email caught my attention because there are some McNac's associated with my family. I have not been able to find out much concerning some of my people. I'm hoping maybe some one on this list might be able to help. My children decend from Edward Weaver and his wife Lizzie (Hall) Weaver. Edward's grandfather was Hokussey, also spelled Hoscussee was from Big Spring. I have no dates on him other than that he had died by the time of enrollment. Edward's grandmother, Nellie Hope was from Thlewarthle town. She died before April 1899. I have some documents that show the name Company in place of Hokussey. It's confusing to me and I hope someone can explain some of this to me. Also any info on these towns I mentioned and where they may have been located would be a great help. Edward's parents were Paul Weaver, a non citizen, and Mary (Mollie) Weaver. Mary also had a child later with Daniel Hawkins, I'm not sure if they were married or not. Mary Weaver had a sister named Sarah Greenleaf. I have also got documents that show Nellie's last name as Company. I believe Sarah's maiden name was Lynch. I have an Emma Weaver who was married to a Robinson McNac. Emma was a sister to my Edward Weaver. Sarah Greenleaf shows some McNac's on her census card as well. Sarah's daughter Annie married a Fred McNac and had a child named Robert McNac. I don't usually post information to this group; however I watch the posts from time to time. Are you or is anyone, by any chance, related to the Owings and allied families (sometimes spelled as "Owens")? I am told that we are Creek Native American by ancestry and it is somehow it traced back to a connection with Fort Mims, but I am not sure how or why? A second cousin John Major Owings Jr. is affiliated with the Lower Muskogee Creek Indian Tribe in Georgia [Tama Creek Tribal Town] http://www.rose.net/~mvr/. He has told us much about our ancestry.
