    1. Re: [CREEK-SOUTHEAST] Re: Elizabeth English / Frank B. Ward & the Prevatt Family
    2. Richard White
    3. Nancy... Several people have contacted me "back-channel" about this line and I haven't had a chance to get back with them yet, but here goes... Frank B. Ward is a figment of my fatigued brain. I don't know about other folks, but I occasionally "mis-speak myself", and this is one of those cases. Yes, the Elizabeth Ward who was my 3-great grandmother is buried at Smyrna Baptist Church... originally in Henry Co., but now in Houston Co., AL. She is buried there as the wife of Frederick P. Ibe, who she married after my 3-great grandfather, Thomas Prevatt, III, died. The Ibes lived for quite awhile with the Jonas B. Davis in Decatur (now Grady) County, Georgia. I'm curious if anyone knows why Elizabeth ended up in Alabama? I apologize for flummoxing James B. Ward's name into Frank B. Ward. I really don't know how I did that, but I did. I don't make a whole lot of blunders and "boo-boos" but when I do, they are sometimes doozies! <sigh> I too would like to know Elizabeth Ward Prevatt Ibe's (Eby's) relationship(s) within the Ward family... My queries to Ward family reserarchers all drew blanks. BTW: In the oral history that I got from my grandfather King Walter Davis, "Eby" was used as if it were a first name. It seems as though that may have been the name she was called by in later years...? James B. Ward had a dau., Mary that married James Monroe Davis. James' father, Thomas came from GA. and his brother Jonas Davis married Clarissa Prevatt. In Clarissa's mother was Elizabeth Ward and she died in henry Co., Ala. It is believed her father was either William or David Ward of robeson Co., N.C. Elizabeth like james B. Ward was part cherokee. I don't know of a Frank Ward but James Monroe Davis and Mary had a grandson named Frank Davis. I am looking for more info on Elizabeth Ward Prevatt Ebe(Ibe) because we think their might be a connection between James B. Ward and Elizabeth Ward Prevatt. >

    1. Re: [CREEK-SOUTHEAST] Re: Indians of Early Decatur County Georgia
    2. Richard White
    3. It would help to know the names you are interested in... Here are some of mine: http://pone.com/ts/rw000.htm All of these came through either Decatur or Thomas counties at one time or another, mostly in the area where they originally joined that has now become Grady County, Georgia. I'm pretty sure that my Prevatt/Davis line had Indian ancestry, but probably not Creek... probably Monacan (Catawba Sioux) and possibly Cherokee. My Welch line probably included Indian ancestry, but I'm not sure whether they were Creek or other. I'm relatively sure that my Spear(s) and Hair(e) lines had Creek ancestry... but so far my documentation of the specifics is nebulous at best... You might also find my web site on the Apalachicola Creeks to be interesting: http://sofkee.org/apalachicola/apalachicolacreeks.htm This is just simple, basic, information from published sources but so far as I have found to date, very little compiled history has been written about this group. It is my impression that they were about as much at home in Decatur County as they were across the line in Florida. 1. Re: [CREEK-SOUTHEAST] Re: FORT MIMS - Survivors or Victims - 1813
    2. Nicole, I saw your query on the Creek-Southeast forum, but not until today. We have been on vacation in Atlanta (Marietta) and I just read it. There is a book entitled Fort Mims and the Tensaw Settlement by Dess L Sangster and Tom Sangster for the Fort Mims Restoration Association, Inc. The Address in 1993 was: Fort Mims Restoration Association, Inc P.O.Box 69 Stockton, Alabama 36579 The name Owen is listed on page 58, under names associated with Fort Mims because they were either in the fort or had relatives in the fort. There is no other mention of the name Owen(s).The book does give background on the massacre, and may still be in print or in the library. There is another book by Dr. David Pierce Maason, Massacre at Fort Mims, that has more information including a map showing about where the Creeks, Lower Creeks, Choctaws, etc. lived, and it lists the genealogies for the early south Alabama families, beginning with Sehoy of generation one. It is not indexed. I hope this helps, Walt Tarvin
