    2. SURNAMES: EMANUEL,SIZEMORE,EMIG,McCABE Hello! I am just beginning the journey and would be grateful for feedback. Of the above surnames, I have no idea where The Emanuels originated from- I know that my PGP Resided in Mobile ,AL and that my PGM (nee: Sizemore) was born in Mississippi, and is of Creek Blood. I have been told that The Emig Line (MGF) came from Germany around the Revolutionary War or shortly after and that surname could been changed from Von Emig post US landing (?) Also told that the McCabe line (MGM) came from Scotland around 1600's & settled in Riverside,NJ- then spread. Any info would be appreciated- Thanks.

    3. Hi. the Emanuels could have come out out of NC. There is a group of Emanuel in NC very early where records have them as fpc, and possible MU, and some automatically think of Black. The Native people, classified as non white, were also marked similiarly. I believe these EMANUELs were Lumbee. My interest in them was due to the fact I have a very elusive THOMPSON Line out of NC, who used the name Emanuel or Manuel as a middle name. There is a James Manuel THOMPSON on some Creek and Choctaw records, and this is the name I'm researching. I don't have enough info. to ascertain whether he is one and the same man, that is, the records of the Creek and Choctaw and whether in turn mine. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5R.2ADI/955.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: You might try Houston Co, Stewart Co, Twiggs Co and Thomas Co, GA as well. There was a heavy concentration of Blackshear's in all those counties. Elisha Stout Blackshear had a ggg grandson named Nonie Blackshear (from his son, Mose's line). Unfortunately, this Nonie is not in my direct line (Elisha is..but my line is from his son Jacob) so I have little info. I have no idea if this was a common name or if there is a connection to this family or one of Elisha's siblings. Also, back then, after the removal of the 5 nations to OK, census records often classified light skinned Native Americans as "mulattos", since they were not suppose to have been any indians left behind. I have a very extensive decendancy chart, in my Word docs. It is far from complete, but if you think it might help you, I will be glad to forward it to you. While it is done in the traditional format of a decendancy chart, it includes ALL the b., d., m. information, including the counties and the spouses names. Faye Blackshear Reynolds

    3. I am interested in the Hadley/Kennerson family line. My gggg grandfather, Benjamin Hadley, was born in 1760, Cumberland, NC and died in 1831. He is buried in Baldwin Co, AL. His parents were Thomas Hadley and Mary Thompson. Was Mary Thompson Native American? Thomas Hadley's parents were Joshua Hadley and Mary Rowland. I'm fairly certain that Mary Rowland was Native and wonder if anyone has any information on her parents. Benjamin Hadley married Elizabeth "Betsy" Kennerson (? spelling variations ? ) around 1809 in Mississippi. Betsy was born between 1790-1799 and died March 1825. Do you know, or does anyone on this list know if Betsy was Native American or the names of her parents and grandparents or where she was buried? Many thanks for any help you can give me. Bonnie
