I've heard somewhere that the Anderson family had a Cloud wife. No proof that I know. And, the area would be right. Sha --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]
Seeking documentation about the ship that sank while carrying Indians to Oklahoma during the removal. It is said to have gone down off the shore of Pass Christian, Ms. I found a small reference in a book that had been loaned to me, but I have lost touch with the owner. I found a Creek site with a map showing the over the water route to the west. It doesn't give details. Mvdo, Mvhaya --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I'm researching my g-g-g-g-grandmother Mary Miller who's believed to have married William Tarvin ("William II" ) in Burke Co. Georgia. in 1789. Their daughter, Nancy Tarvin married Thomas Puckett and came to Texas during the Republic. Recently, I found out we have some family lore that Nancy Tarvin was part Creek. After looking at Carol Middleton's website, it seems to me that this might be through Nancy's mother Mary Miller...or perhaps William Tarvin's mother, listed as "Nancy ?" I realize this is going back very far in time, but I wonder if anyone out there has any information? In any case, this is a new & interesting subject for me. My family has been in Texas for many generations, and not much has been passed down about our roots in the South East. Sincerely, Jennifer Barnes-Worsham

Do you descend via the long ago Baldwin Co. Sherriff Moniac? Long ago--SOMEWHERE--I read of an Indian trader (Scot?) named Jacob Moniac. There is a Moniac Castle (winery) in Scotland, but I find no other Scot mention of the name Moniac. By-the-way. I'm told it is not pronounced Mon-eye-ack, but is pronounced Mann-ick? How does your family pronouce it? Did Chief Samuel Moniac, Sr., and his son Pvt. Samuel Moniac, Jr., both die Pass Christian, Miss., at different times. If so, where are they buried there? I filed the paperwork for Maj. David Moniac's memorial stone at Bushnell National Cemetery, Florida; near were he was killed (50 bullets in corps) in the Second Seminole War, Battle of Wahoo Swamp, Florida. On the obverse, the greatful government inscribed Gen. Jesup's words that "David was as brave as any man who has drawn a sword and faced the enemy". David was buried several times; finally alledgedly under one of two unique multi-grave pyramids at St. Augustine, Fla., National Cemetery (very small). But the marker does not menti! on David Individually. A West Point speaker spoke at the memorial stone's unvailing, and a descendant held a Native American-only ceremony. Because of an event in looking for a suitable location for David's memorial, at my Kaskaskia Illini nameing ceremony, I was named Ne-p8-pa-t8-8a or Na-poo-pah-too-wah, or "Walkslowly" in English, meaning "turtle". Mdm. Catherine E8ipakin8ca Colon, baptisted Fort Kaskaskia, Illinois Military District 1698, wife of Canadian voyageur Jean Baptiste Colon dit La Violette, were my ancestors. Both died old up-river Mobile, Ala. The history book writer, Winston de Ville, I believe, descends Colon's second wife? Nawa: Jim Miller, Southport, N.C.
