    2. Hi Bonnie, The Hastie-Thompson book shows that Jane Hadley b. 1810 had only one child with Alexander McGillivray W'fd.--Mary Hadley Weatherford, b 1841-42--and that Jane later married (3/1851) Elisha Boom (sic), b. 1826 no b place given). gmw

    3. Jean, Judy White has made it very easy for us. Start reading here: http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/dawes.php Judy shows us how to find them if they were enrolled, what the criteria was for being enrolled, what records are available, and to top it all off she transcribed the whole Campbell's Abstracts to make it even easier. The Creek Jackets, unfortunately, do not all have everything from the enrollment card to all the paperwork and testimonies before the Commission, simply because the Creeks were the first ones done and the record-keeping was haphazard. They learned from that mistake so the Choctaw, Chickasaw and Cherokee jackets all contain more material overall. It seems that the files that have correspondence, etc. are mostly the rejected applicants that came later. This was the case with Leona Starke - she was unable to get herself, her brother, Sidney Lomax Sizemore, or her daughter, Cora, enrolled in the Creek Nation because they did not appear as Indian on the right census records and other documents required for citizenship in spite of any amount of testimony on their behalf and the fact that they were shown as Indian on some census records - just not the required ones. Thanks again, Judy! With warm regards to all, Evelyn

    2. To Evelyn or anyone who might know: Where did you find the document that you sent for the Dawes Packets Creek Enrollment Cases? I have been searching for that type record needed in my search, but, haven't been successful in locating it. I don't know if everyone who enrolled had to go through this process or not. If so, surely, somewhere there are copies of these documents. Jean **************Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today. 3. Thank you Evelyn We are working up a list of all the miscellaneous files, and they do contain quite a bit of info, but I keep finding to many other things to do. They tell us they are 95% finished with the packets. Hopefully as soon as these are done we will get all the extras put together that we have found in the records. You mentioned about the Creek being so incomplete, we found this when we were working with the databases and trying to get them matched, especially with the minor and newborn, they were the worst. So far I only have the index to the Campbell Abstracts, but you can find many connections with just the index and hopefully soon we will get the abastract online. 2. Evelyn S. Leslie
    3. Hi list, Since there was some discussion regarding Mary Ella Weatherford Sizemore recently, thought I'd pass this along as it might be helpful to some figuring their family lines: Dawes Packets Creek Enrollment Cases 22 - 94 No. 35, Leona STARKE Testimony of William FISHER on behalf of Leona STARKE in 1899 before the Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes, Department of the Interior, hearings for Creek Enrollment: Q What is your name A William Fisher Q Are you a citizen of the Creek Nation A Yes, one of the oldest Q How old are you? A Seventy years Q How long have you lived in the Crek Nation? A We come here from Alabama in 1847 Q Do you know Leona Starke? A Yes, I knew her just after she came into this country. I knew her parents just the first people I knew after I came to my recol- lection from a child, and all her connection. Her parents and my family have lived together until we left there, but I know her mother and her father, and her grandfather and great grandmother. Know them just as well as I know one of my children. Q How much Creek Indian is she? A I reckon must be half Q Who was her father? A Her father's name was Alex Sizemore, and Alex Weatherford was her great-grandfather Q Who was her mother? A Her mother was Alex Weatherford's daughter, I don't recollect her given name---Mary. I have got several letters from her since she came here inquiring how she was getting along. Q Was Mary Weatherford a Creek Indian? A Yes sir. Q How much Indian was she? A About half, I think. The old lady used to talk Creek Indian as well as anyone ever did talk. Q How much Creek was her father? A I couln't tell; about half breed. Q That would make this woman about half breed? A Yessir Q Do you know why Leona's name does not appear on the Creek rolls if she is a Creek citizen? A That's what she says, and that's the reason she had me toappear here before you. Q Why doesn't her name appear on the rolls? A I couldn't tell you that; I don't know anything about how that happened, but she is surely a Creek. If I knew everything else as well as I know that she is a Creek, there would be no mistake about it. By Mr. Bixby: This case will be continued in order that applicant may get additional evidence as to citizenship if possible. Her name does not appear to be on the authenticated roll. Regards to all, Evelyn

    2. The Hastie(Thompson) book has Jane Hadley b. ca. 1810, Miss. Territory d. 9-16-1887, Escambia Co, AL dau. of Benjamin Hadley and Betsy Kinderson. They aren't mentioned elsewhere in index, but Bibliography shows: Hadley, Jane. 1850 Census of Baldwin County on Hadley household submitted by Brenda Jackson, Sept. 1991. I haven't checked that yet. Good Luck, Richard T !
