    3. Crecelius is the Latinized form of the German name Krekel. The k's change to c's, and the Latin ending -ius is added. Does anybody know where "Krekel" comes from? Karen Parker

    2. Wendy, Have been perusing the Crecelius message board and found your message very interesting. I am decended back to Johann Cristophal "Christoffel" Crecelius who was born in Nauheim, Nassau, Germany. Some have eluded in the past that the name was Greek. Could you give me a little background on your family, particularly the immigrant from Greece. Mary

Craig was a mason. Not much else as far as Minnie's family. Do know Pophams were mentioned in family but will have to dig. It's buried here somewhere. Anxious to hear from you. Mary

Amoung their 7 children was Rebecca B. After Rebecca's death he married Rebecca's sister Drucilla Enlow. Among their children was Jacob H. Johann's father Otto Rudolph Crecelius, immigrated to Phildelphia and married for the third time. He settled finally in Washington County, N. Carolina (now Tn.) He died in 1787 and is buried there. Johann was in Knox County, Tn. as evidenced by the birth of John Jr. in 1789. Phillip A. married Rebecca in Harrison County, In. in 1817. Johann and his wife Elizabeth purchased 160 acres on 21 May 1822. Source: Jeffersonville Dis. Land Entries, Book 2 pg. 177. Deed book H,pg.440,Vol 1 Harrison Co. In. 23 Feb 1827! shoes Jon G. & wife Elizabeth deeded land to son Henry Cline (160 acres, Twp. 4-S not Scott Twp.). The only Wesley I have in my records is Wesley Earl son of Thomas Ray Crecelius decendant of Harrison Crecelius and Nancy Burris. Issac A. is son of George W who was a son of Phillip A. and Drucilla. As for L.E. or G.H. Crecelius I need a first name or fathers name. Hope this is the line you are looking for. Please advise how you are related to the Crecelius family. Mary

    2. Karen Parker
    3. Hello, cousins. I was very pleased to receive an e-mail message yesterday from Marcus Krekel, whose home village is Gemuenden, where our early Krekel/Crecelius ancestors lived. He has a web site with beautiful photographs of the St. Severus Stiftskirche there, built in 879, where our Lutheran clergy ancestors tended their flocks; and beautiful photographs of the village and nearby woods. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I do. The URL is: http://www.gemuendenonline.de/gm_gall/gm_gall.htm Best wishes, Karen Parker Visit Parker's Genealogy & History Establishment http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kmparker/gen
