Now that the Rootsweb Lists are working (somewhat), let's get conversations started again about our ancestors. I know many of you like Facebook and other venues, but the Lists are still the best/easiest way to communicate. Enjoy, Sarge George W. We are in the process of organizing a Reunion in Washington Co., TN, for all Germanna descendants whose ancestors came through TN. It will be held in conjunction with the annual Broyles Reunion. Tentative dates for the Germanna Reunion are 9, 10, & 11 September, 2011. The Broyles Reunion occurs on the 11th. We are trying to line up speakers and will let everyone know as we get commitments. Tentatively, Friday, the 9th, will be for meeting each other and going out to visit some original homeplaces, family cemeteries, and other places of interest related to Germanna. Times will be determined later and will be announced. Saturday's activities will probably start at 9:00 AM. Ending time will depend on the number of speakers and the length of their presentations. If we finish early enough, we'll travel some more to whatever places attendees desire. Lodging is plentiful in Greeneville, TN, and the drive from there is only about 10 miles. For those coming from the east, they can stay in Jonesborough or Johnson City. The drive from Jonesborough is about 14 miles, and from I-26 in Johnson City about 23 miles. I'll post driving directions from Greeneville, Jonesborough, and Johnson City later. As for meals on Friday and Saturday, there are two places highly recommended, The Farmer's Daughter (which is well known by those who have attended past reunions) and the Pilot Hill General Store and Restaurant. The latter is in the building that originally housed the Pilot Hill P. O. and General Store and was bought about a year ago and restored to much of its original condition. It now houses a restaurant specializing in BBQ and Ribs and has gained quite a reputation for its great food. For breakfast and dinner, there are plenty of restaurants near the motels you will be staying in, in whichever city. I'll post more later, giving a list of all known Germanna families who migrated to East TN in the late 1700's and early 1800's, and there are a bunch of them. We invite anyone who is even remotely related to the Germanna families through marriage. There were many German families who came through the Shenandoah Valley into East TN and married into our Germannans. Many of these other Germans were even from the same areas of Germany as our Germanna ancestors! Some examples are BENDER/PAINTER, BOWMAN, COPP/CUPP, CRUM/GRIM/GRIMM, FELLERS/FILLERS/G'FELLERS, FOX, GUINN/GWINN/GWIN, THOMA/THOMAS, STONECIPHER/ STEINSEIFER, KEEBLER/KIBLER, RUSH/ROUSE/RAUSCH, WEAVER/WEBER, WINDEL/WENDEL/WINDLE/WENDLE, etc. Regards, George W. "there's a little more about me," Hi Jake, Yes, I would like to hear more about you. My 1970 book lists your mother & her siblings: Kim Renay Crecelius b. 16 Dec 1958 at Delano, CA Denise Lanai Crecelius b. 31 May 1961 at Bakersfield, CA Daniel Lewis Crecelius b. 3 May 1963 at Bakersfield, CA Stacey Ann Crecelius b. 14 July 1964 at Bakersfield, CA Please send me names and dates for all their descendants & spouses. I will forward the data to Virginia to the Hottel-Keller Historian, Paul Huddle, for the upcoming update of the 1930 Hottel History. All 250 copies of my 1970 book sold within a year after publication. I did a loose-leaf update in 2001---over 160 pages---but your granddad never replied to my letters asking for an update on his branch of the family. All 125 copies of the update have sold; but I could have a photocopy made of my copy, and mail it to you for $25 (including postage), if you are interested. And please ask your mother if she knows the name of the cemetery in Miller, S.D. where her great-grandparents, Jacob Lewis & Laura Ann, are buried? Thank you very much! steven coulter 1058-56th st des moines, ia 50311-2246 rsvpr@aol.com

Well, I'm Wally's second oldest grandchild, first Boy. I have two sisters, who are fraternal twins, they are two years younger than me, Jamie Lee and Jessica Lynn. Also I have One brother who is five years younger, Charles Monroe. We were brought-up in the mormon religion, recently I stumbled across some astrology stuff, I was intrigued, I've been reading more and more, what I thought I believed is starting to fade into endless questions. When I was a young kid my mom had the Coulter clan book, she was borrowing from my Grampa, since he passed I'm not too sure what happened to it, is there a way to get hold of another? I would like to get to know you and perhaps other relatives. there's a little more about me, I look forward to hearing from you, thank you so much for, EXISTING. -Jake Tucker Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: rsvpr Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.crecelius/51.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Cousin Jacob! Delighted to hear from you! The Jacob Crecelius who married Christena Lewis is NOT your direct ancestor. That one is a distant uncle of ours. YOUR Jacob Lewis Crecelius (1858-1934) was a son of George Crecelius & Elizabeth Keller (my great-grandparents). I believe Jacob was named after two uncles: Elizabeth's brother, Rev. Jacob Keller, and Jacob Louis Bottles, husband of Elizabeth's sister, Eliza Keller. Both of the older Jacobs served in the Civil War (on the Union side). Do you have access to my 1970 book, OUR COULTER CLAN & ALLIED FAMILIES? I know your great-grandmother Alcinda had a copy. I enjoyed corresponding with her in the 1970s. Your mother is listed on page 166. Page 147 shows an 1895 photo of your Jacob Lewis Crecelius, his wife Laura, and their first three children: Roy, Gertie, and Hiram the baby. Photos of Jake's father George are on pages 146 (with his bachelor brother Adam Crecelius, a Civil War veteran), page 147 (four generations of which he's the eldest), and 148 (the long-widowed George with five of his children: Will, Al, and Charles, Etta, and May). The Crecelius plot marker in Conrad Cemetery, Conrad, Iowa, is shown on page 148. A long 1970 letter from your great-grandmother Alcinda is on pages 165-166. In 2001, I updated the descendants of George & Elizabeth Keller Crecelius, but your grandfather Wally never answered my letters asking for an update of his branch. So whatever you can tell me about you and your siblings would be much appreciated. Your great-grandfather Hiram had a bachelor older brother, Roy Elsworth Crecelius (1891-1971); so being unmarried runs in the family (reference Uncle Adam Crecelius above)! Hiram's sister Gertie Crecelius never married either. Nor did Hiram's nephew, John Walter Whitlow. I've just listed your great-great-grandfather Jacob Lewis Crecelius on findagrave.com: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=47251911 I do not know which of the cemeteries in Miller, SD, he rests in; so please let me know if I chose the wrong one! Thanks! >From Jacob's listing, you can click on links to his siblings, their parents and grandparents, etc. Maybe you would like to list your grandfather Wally on findagrave? It's free and easy. Send me your questions, and I will try to help. steven coulter 1058-56th st des moines, IA 50311-2246 515-255-1903 RSVPR@aol.com P.S. My home computer died last year and I haven't replaced it. I try to visit the public library to check my emails. But I also work 10-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, so it will probably be Tuesday before I can get to a computer again to reply. Take care, and tell me about yourself!
