Hello Crawfords, I caught your message on the list and thought maybe you guys could shed some light or confirm my info on my line. As with many females in genealogy, I have a weak link. I'm looking for info on a Mary / Maria / Polly born Crawford (early 1800's) married John Hawk, Pa. If my resources are correct, I have Mary / Polly as the daughter of Mathias and Mary Crawford. Mathias as son of Jonas and Jonas son of David. I never did a lot with this branch of my tree until I could make a positive connection with this Polly. Can anyone help me? My Crawfords / Hawks / Stitts, etc were mostly in Ohio and Pa. I did hear a story that they traveled west in a covered wagon for a while but must have come back to the southern Ohio and western Pa. area. Thanks! I checked all of the surnames beginning with the letter “H” hoping to find any HOWARD. However, I came up empty on that. Sorry I couldn’t help connect for you. Also, FTDNA says I am all updated now. I have been getting tons of matches but haven’t followed up yet. I recently talked with FTDNA and somehow my setup did not get updated (like all the thousands of others) for a newer process for contacting me. I was told, “You fell through the cracks.” ???? No one can contact me. It was weird how it all happened but I hope it will be fixed soon. >> >> Barb Crawford >> Hocking Co OH >> >> Sent from my Barb's iPhone >> >>> On Jun 28, 2018, at 9:35 PM, pj <pj@apex.net> wrote: >>> >>> my cousin Jerry HOWARD is the one that took the test so if there is anybody out there that shows him kin, please write back, thanks pj >>> >>> >>> -----Original Message----- From: Sharon Brobst >>> Sent: Thursday, June 28, 2018 6:33 PM >>> To: crawford@sfu.ca ; crawford@rootsweb.com >>> Subject: [CRAWFORD] Re: CRAWFORD >>> >>> Hi Paula, >>> I am always delighted to hear from a Crawford. My Crawford family is from New Brunswick, Canada. They were originally from Ayr, Scotland and some of them moved to Donegal Ireland before arriving in New Brunswick about 1800. My results were found after 14 plus years of searching, several DNA tests of brothers and myself, and reading many old newspapers --only to find my relative in my very own county--thanks to the newspaper. They had moved around a LOT. >>> There is a great possibility that your family may be related to a Judge Henry Crawford who was born 1860 and died in 1929. Buried in Locust Grove Cemetery. I believe James came from PA and first went to Muskingum County, OH. He was a blacksmith.
