Thomas Hartley Crawford (14 Nov 1786 - 27 Jan 1863): representative from PA. Born in Chambersburg PA. In 1804, graduated from Princeton College. Studied law and admitted to bar in 1807. Began practice in his home town. In 1829 he was elected as a Jackson Democrat to the 21st Congress: reelected once, served until 1833. Then for one term he served in the state house of representatives. In 1836 he was appointed commissioner of the investigation into alleged frauds in the sale of the Creek Indian Reservation. President Van Buren appointed him commissioner of Indian Affairs in 1838. He held that post until 1845 when he was appointed judge of the Criminal Court of the District of Columbia. He served on that bench until 1861. Died in Washington DC. Was he married with children??? ;-) Debra Claussen
