Dear Linda, On the 1850 census index I just purchased, there are about 530 William Crawford heads-of-households in the United States, but these were the only ones I found in your state and county. There were none in the Elksrun township, but I did accidentally stumble on to a couple of Washington Crawfords in that township. If you have evidence that your William was in this township on the 1850 census, I would love to have a copy so I can point out the omission to Family Tree Maker!
