    1. CRAWFORDs in Kentucky

    3. Lyn, I am also researching Crawfords in Kentucky. My ancestor, Hugh CRAWFORD md Mary JEANS in Prince George Co, MD in 1780. I am finding this particular branch of the family in Fayette Co, PA records (with most likely earlier roots in MD) right before they came to KY. Hugh Sr and his son, Hugh Jr apparantly came down the Ohio from PA to Nelson Co, Kentucky where they settled on Coxes Creek (near Bardstown). I find them on a tax list there in 1789. I think that there were probably more Crawfords who came with Hugh down the river from PA. There are also a John and Samuel Crawford who had early deeds on Coxes Creek. Perhaps your Crawfords were also a part of this family? I would imagine that these Crawfords spread out across Kentucky. Is it just a coincidence that Fayette Co, KY is the same as the county they came from in Southeastern PA? I recently returned from a research trip to Salt Lake City and am still trying to wade through all the information that I have gotten and make sense of it all. Another person on this list mentioned a Hezekiah Crawford. I have seen that name recently and will see if I can find where it was. I would like to hear from anyone who connects with the Hugh Crawford family and might be able to help me straighten out on who were the siblings of Hugh Crawford of Nelson Co, KY. As a matter of fact, Hugh Jr and Mary Jeans had a lot of children and I have that information. If anyone is interested I will post it to the list. One of his sons was Hugh Caldwell Crawford, born in Nelson Co (I don't have the date), but he married Rebecca Foreman in 1829 in Nelson Co. . Please contact me if you have anything you can add about this family. Thanks, Pat Payne in Florida
