I have noted several messages lately referring to finding gravesites, etc., and I am hoping someone can tell me what to do. Simeon & Eliza (Martin) Crawford were born in Ontario, migrated to Michigan about 1850, in Wisconsin census in 1870, in Kansas census in 1880. Family sources state they both died in Florida in 1888. I have a copy of a letter each wrote in July 1887 to their son describing where they are living--creek in NE corner, highest point on land 10 ft. above creek, creek on nw corner, spring water runs year around--but that could describe anywhere. Evidently his son had asked about "hammock land" and he states there is none there but the store clerk came from "Cala*ena (writing not clear) County where there is hammock land. I've tried googgling that county name with several letters and find none anywhere. I've checked the Florida listing of deaths, paid for a death certificate with Florida state, and looked at the www.Findagrave.com but find no help. Since they would have traveled by wagon and horse in the 1880's I have assumed it would be north Florida (& assumptions cause trouble!) I would appreciate any suggestions. Sylvia Foster
