    3. I have visited the new monument also, Ann, and wondered if their grandsons drew the same conclusion that I did; that their son George was a junior, though technically, "George W. II" would indicate that he was not named for his father at all, but for someone else. Have you found anything on any legal document showing the elder George with a middle name or initial? Also, I have searched fairly thoroughly the Crawford lines through George and Sarah's sons, but have done little on some of the daughters' lines. Did Anna by any chance name a son "Valentine" for the man who is alleged by many to have been the father of our George and grandfather of your Anna and my James? Their son, Josiah, was named for Sarah's father. Surely one of the sons carried on the given name of George's father, and I suspect that it was William, but . . Still looking. 3. Many times in history a person would name a nephew or relative Jr. instead of his son. This happened many times and is the reason we have such a hard time trying to find the right person. 3. Linda, the one lead I am following is from the "Haywood County Heritage North Carolina" Vol. 1 published 1994. The submitter of the information on the Crawford Family states his sources as from personal knowledge, Family Bible, Courthouse records, Grave markers, newspapers, Henly Crawford, E. G. Crawford and James P Beam. I have a lead on the address of the submitter and plan to write him. I'm hopeful he will have some solid information. Ann

    3. I was the submitter (as Harrison) on the one in the Macon (and Clay, I think) County Heritage book. I know/knew Henley and Jim Beam, and shared my research with both. EG, of course, is most likely Emerson Gram. Who actually submitted the article? If it was based on my original research, it won't help us. Wonder who wound up with the family Bible. . . . I need to go poke around in the Burke County court records for a few days. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 14, 2007 12:56 PM Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] Crawford from VA>NC>TN> Texas > Linda, the one lead I am following is from the "Haywood County Heritage > North Carolina" Vol. 1 published 1994. 3. Have you read THE BROTHERS CRAWFORD book? It has a lot of information about this line. J.B.
