From the Arizona Daily Star - Tucson - 2006 On Friday Martha Belle Crawford turned 101 years old. She was born August 18, 1905, in Jackson, Mississippi. Crawford graduated from Millsaps College in Jackson in 1926 and started teaching third grade. Soon after, she got married and then went on to earn her master's degree in special education at the University of Mississippi. She taught special education for about 30 years and says teaching has always been a great passion of hers. Crawford's husband Joe, died in 1972 and she never remarried. She has one daughter, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She lives in a retirement community in the Foothills Talk at me later, Bob C.
