Hi Ida Just to pop in here with my 2 cents. I have my DNA posted and I am in the Ardmillan Crawford line. I have traced my family back to Donegal, Ireland to the late 1700's. These land grants or plantations were given out around a general same time if I am right, some in Ireland and some in the USA. So that is why you see some people around the 1700's getting land in the USA and then Crawfords coming to North America from Ireland where they or friends and relatives got land grants back in the around the1700's. You had the potatoe famine which brought a bunch of Scots- Irish over and there were also smaller migrations patterns here and there. It's a whole area of study. There was the big migration to Pennsylvania and most went south in the US or to Ohio and further west and a smaller amount went North to Canada. I generalized in my post so as not to get in any trouble or mistakes I hope, but it is an interesting area of study, if only we had the time.~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tom In a message dated 5/12/2007 11:31:41 P.M. It appears that the lines we match on DNA, who have traced lines back, have found their line goes to Ireland. I strongly suspect that is where our line originated, or at least came from there, perhaps having gone from Scotland to Ireland at an earlier time. Some who know their line came from Ireland came to the Americas later than mine did, hence is has been difficult to find the connection, as it apparently existed in Ireland. While my line was in the south, later ones seem to have gone north, some as far north as Canada. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks so much for your reply.
