Hi Marilyn --- I posted a query much like the one I posted here, but with my great grandfather and mother (James Monroe and Nancy Riggs instead of Thomas and Jenny, and it was included in the reply. James Monroe was the son of Moses. Since I am homebound, I do all my research on the computer and can seldom "prove" what I get. I do let people know when I communicate with them that my information is not proven by me, but I am always searching, trying to either prove, disprove or add to my database. Unless I can find where my information came from (I have voluminous files from now and from when I researched at Clayton Genealogical Library years ago), I will remove her name from my information. It is a daunting task to plow through my files. I primarily use my FTW program now, but of course, try to keep hard copies of anything I get my hands on. Since you are a descendant of Thomas, would you mind sharing your line with me? Thanks for letting me know. Jenny James Mimi-- Where did you find the identity of Thomas' wife? Other descendants have searched for years and not been able to come up with her name. IMHO, an early Crawford researcher misread the (1850 or 1860 - can't remember) Itawamba Co MS census which does show a male "James" as the son of Thomas but somehow that got translated into "Jenny" and waaalllaaa, she became the wife of Thomas. The information was posted on a website and now the whole geneology world thinks Thomas (1784-85 VA) was married to Jenny. I've tried to straighten this out before, and now Jenny has become "Jenny James." If someone can show me a document naming Jenny as the wife of Thomas, I will be glad to include her in my records, but until that happens, I will go on believing it is a mistake that continues to propogate itself. No offense intended toward Mimi or anyone else. I have made my share of mistaken postings, too. I just received today a copy of a picture of a "John Crawford" per inscription on the back of the pictures. No date, but it looks WWI vintage to me. It was in with pictures of descendants of our Thomas Crawford > George Washington Crawford> Thomas Jefferson Crawford. My files are boxed up right now, but didn't Thomas or George have a son named John Cyrus? I can email the picture if?anyone would?like to see it.
