In the Ontario Marriage Notices, I found the notice of the marriage of William W CRAWFORD to Amelia SPRAGUE, both of Toronto. Marriage was performed at the Wesleyan Parsonage, Jarvis St North. I contacted the church currently at that address about 10 years ago, and they did not know where the records were. Would anyone have any ideas where to look for a marriage record? I am hoping it will give me a lead as to where in Ireland this Wm W CRAWFORD emmigrated from. I suspect they had only been in Toronto a few years before they married. I think I find him in the Directory of the Province of Ontario, 1857. He is listed as shoemaker, 50 Caroline St. I found the street on an old map of Toronto and decided they were in St. David's Ward on the 1861 Census. On FHL census film 0390249, I found the ennumeration for that street address, and it made me a little crazy. I derive from a note in the margin at the top of p. 575 that they were out when the enumerator came 'round, so he spoke with them at the home of Mrs Hartican, widow -- whoever in the world she was. I searched, but could not find the good Mrs. Hartican to see what was in the census re my CRAWFORDs. They had three babies born in Toronto: Ellen ca 1858 Sophia or Belle ca 1859 Edward ca 1860 The next child was born in Youngstown, Mahoning, Oh. Any ideas on where to look for this family? Parents of Amelia were probably also in Toronto area, Edmund and Sophia SPRAGUE/SPRAGG. They emmigrated from England. Thanks for any suggestions!
