HOLMESVILLE, Ohio -- Lois "LaVern" Crawford, 84, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at Majora Lane Care Center, Millersburg, Ohio. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Burial will be at Prairie Twp. Cemetery, Holmesville. Friends will be received one hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home. Those who wish may make a contribution to Hospice of Holmes County, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg, OH 44654. LaVern was born March 5, 1923, to Ora Allen and Zelma Deetz Miller and married Milo Glen Crawford on April 12, 1944. He passed away Feb. 6, 1982. She resided in and around Holmesville all her life. She was a 1941 graduate of Holmesville High School. She was employed on and off at Mansfield Pottery, Fredericksburg Pottery and Freedlanders of Wooster. She retired in 1981, from Holmesville Elementary School, where she was a cook. She was a member of the Holmesville Church of Christ. LaVern enjoyed all aspects of life. Everyone will remember her as a friend. She was known for her sewing, cooking, gardens and her fondness of flowers. She made the "sauce" for the BBQ Chicken at the Holmesville Homecoming for many years and everyone requested her Amish Pudding at family gatherings and special events. She was surely an incredible lady and will be missed by all. Surviving are a sister, Geniva Ilene Ruhl, and a niece, LaRay Smith, both of Mansfield; nieces and nephews, Russ and Pat Crawford Vicars of Shreve, Richard and Jan Crawford of Fort Collins, Colo., Tom and Karen Crawford Motz of Loudonville, Jimm and Betty (Hemingway) Eddy of Killbuck, Mike Hemingway of Jacksonville, Fla., and Barb Dague of W.Va.; several great nieces and nephews; her special friend, Paula Huffman; and her dog, Lucky. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her nephews, Robert Hemingway and Alfred Dague. The family would like at this time to thank Dr. Scott Brown, the nurses, aides and all the staff at Majora Lane for their loving care of LaVern.
