Hi Barbara, I have no relationship to your Crawford or Gary line, but I have looked at Ancestry.com and found a little information. It is only a little, but it might give you something to build on. 1930 Census, Precinct 3, Donley, Texas lists William Gary age 22 b. abt. 1908 Texas and wife Viola age 21. The previous household is Mrs. L.B.Gary age 48 b. TN with children Buck age 23, Pearl age 20, Dee (son) age 18, J.C. (son) age 16, Gladys age 13, Ellanor (?) age 11 and Anniebell age 9. The chldren were all born in TX. Also, it lists Mr. L.B. as married, but she's the head of household and no sign of Arch. The 1910 census, Precinct 2, Dickens, Texas had Arch Gary age 37 married 9 yrs b Arkansas, Lizzie age 27 b. TX, having had 4 children and all 4 living. The children are listed as Nora age 7, Elige (son) age 4, Nelson age 2 and Pearl age 3/12. 1900 Census Justice Precinct 3, Fannin, TX has a Crawford, Ju(unreadable) b. Jan 1850 TX (both parents born TN). Shows him as married, but no wife listed. Children at home are Ada b. Sep 1890 age 9, Claud b Apr 1896 age 4, Jo (son) b Apr 1886 age 14, and Lizzie b Oct 1882 age 17. This may be your Lizzie, but I couldn't find any other census years to follow up on. A death record is listed for William Nelson Gary b. 6 Dec 1907 Texas, died 26 Oct 1991 Kings. This is in the California Death Index for 1940 - 1997. Hope this is a little help. Hello Judy, Thank you this gives me names, dates and places which is so much more than I had. On the 1930 census Lon Gary must be dead which is why L.B. Gary is head of house her name is Lizzie Bell and William is her son who is my sons g-grandfather (grandpee) and Viola his wife is granny we called her she is my sons g-grandmother I only saw them twice Johnny my boys father was killed in a car wreck and Wanda the daughter moved to Okla. for years she came back here to CA. when she found she had cancer and died about a month later. Voila also died her in CA. just don't know where. I think she had about 5 children. Hi Barbara, The social security death index gives Viola's birth date as 15 Sep 1908 and her death as 28 May 2000, Gerber, Tehama, CA and her s.s. # issued in Colorado. There is also an old address for her in Corona, Kings, CA. Unfortunately, we almost all start when it's too late to glean information from older relatives. If I weren't a pack rat, I wouldn't have had all the information I did have to start my research. It was long after my parents and my husband's parents had passed away.
