Bob, thanks for your reply. How do you go about developing that line of communication? I would love to do that. I have a number of contacts in my address book. I just didn't know about the policy about fund-raising. I am aware of the Davies-Crawford connection, but I would have to go back to my grandmother's notes to refresh my memory as to just what it is. We have not said too much about Tusculum on our web site and in our newsletter for the past six months. We probably should develop some sort of open line of communications with the Crawford group(s) raising funds to save Tusculum.? You may be aware of the Davies-Crawford connection.? I have added names to my address book and could contact them directly, not going through rootsweb, but since part of the message would be how to inform list members how they can contribute to the restoration fund, I would not wish to be acting contrary to rootsweb policy. Marian, I'm sneaking some emails out from the office, so I don't have my notes available.? I always forget whether Nicholas Clayton Davies' Crawford wife was Elizabeth or Catherine.? She was a daughter of one of the numerous Davids and it appears that she was born at Tusculum. We have a fairly sizeable Davies Family Organization membership of over 200 addresses, which equates to over 400 members.? This is what I used for?our last fund raising drive.? Frankly, we didn't have a large number of members contribute, but one member contributed a very large sum by my standards.? My guess is that we contributed about $32,000 to Phase I.? This isn't bad since only approximately one-third of the contemporary Davieses we know about?descend from Nicholas C. Davies. I assume that the Crawford's have an organization of some sort that started the Crawford Rootsweb site that I subscribe to.? Yes, I understand that the site is open to all people interested in the Crawford surname and that most of the traffic has nothing to?do with our mutual Crawford line.?Nevertheless, I'm under the impression that it was started by?our line. There is a Mary in Texas who has been very active with Tusculum.? If I get to it tonight I'll look up her email address and send it to you. There is no reason to have three or more fund raising efforts going on without at least some sharing of information. I have not kept up with Tusculum over the past 6 months or so.? I don't know what Sweet Briar's current plans are or what progress has been made.? I need to visit the site, although I had trouble finding it the last?time I tried.? I think?the college changed?the site?address.?
