Hello, First, I need to ask if you are related to a man named Justin Crawford. He contacted me several years ago through Ancestry.com, because he'd seen my family tree of Crawfords. At that time he was about to enter an Eastern Orthodox convent. We exchanged a few emails then I lost contact with him. He did tell me of some cousins who were from Botetourt County. Justin and his cousins were from the George Crawford line. George was the brother of James Madison Crawford, my ancestor. James Madison's son James H Crawford was my grandmother's father. Justin also emailed me a probate account of Andrew Crawford where he'd purchased a rather large amount of land for just a few shillings - before US currency. He then sold the land to his oldest son for several thousands of dollars. If you are of these Crawfords I'd love to hear from you. I've been in Virginia and have driven down the Appalachian Road, perhaps right by Craig's Creek area. This land is probably one of the few places I'd like to visit to see where ancestors lived and worked. Pat Casey gntpat@comcast.net
Hello - My Crawfords seem to be from John Dennis Crawford, Sr. He came from Ireland and settled in Amherst, Virginia. He had a son James Crawford, but I do not have a George, so it does not seem to be the same family. Sorry! Hello Kerry, I am interested in James Crawford. My ggggrandfather was a James Crawford. I descend from a Robert Crawford (son of James) who migrated to Australia, possibly in the 1850's. This Robert Crawford was possibly born in Shetland Islands approx 1820, so I guess his father james was probably born somewhere around 1780/1790. If these timelines line up with your records I would love to hear from you as I have hit a brickwall with Robert Crawford.
