    3. I recently join this list and am looking for direction in finding out some information about John and James Crawford, two brothers, who came here to Conn. from Scotland via Ireland. Most of my information was taken from a book I found on line while researching my Rosebrook/Crawford connections. Knowing these old books can be unreliable I use them as guides and like to start proving what I have found. I don't like copying from other trees. The book is the "History of Union, Conn."..I have had good luck in proving a lot of what I have found but am wondering if someone can direct me to proof of the parents of John and James. Thank you in advance for your time, Sincerely, Wendy

    3. I have a James Crawford in my husband's line, but I think he came in through Pennsylvania. My James was b. 3 Apr 1789 in PA He died 6 May 1858 in Morgan Co., OH I doubt that this is the same James. There are a LOT of James Crawfords out there to research. I hope you get some more responses. 3. List My Crawford's all settle in Va, most of my line is from Botetourt County of Va. Old John Crawford with Sons Andrew, John, and James. This is what makes the Crawford's so hard to follow they all have the same names. Just thankful that Botetourt has such great records. My SAR Patriot is Andrew Crawford. David Hicks

    3. Wendy, You didn't list a time reference, therefore I'm not positive the John and James Crawford you refer to are the same individuals as my Crawford ancestors. Suffice it to say, my John (and brother James) were the sons of James and Elizabeth (Campbell) Crawford of Scotland (via Londonderry, Ireland). They arrived in this country circa 1730 and resided initially in Union, CT and later removed to Westminster, VT in 1769 and to Putney, VT in 1799. My direct Crawford descendants later moved to Iowa before it became a state. All of the above can be documented. If those dates and names confirm that they could be your Crawford line, contact me via email using the above email address. I do have additional information.
