NEWARK, N.J. - Samuel A. Crawford, 72, of Newark, N.J., formerly of Staunton, Va., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark. He was born March 7, 1939, in Staunton, a son of the late Saint Jr. and N. Elaine (Dawson) Crawford. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. Samuel is survived by his wife, Virginia N. Crawford; six children, Faith Newell, Samuel (Mercedes,) David (Mimi,) Daniel, Gary and Angel Crawford; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, in Newark. A local funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Public viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memory Gardens. Local professional services are entrusted to Kenneth L.
