It would be very helpful to look at land records in the PA archives. Westmoreland was a huge county in PA and other counties made from it. Ask for a copy of the index at the Archives and give a 10 to 15 year span for your surname. Send them some money, a self addressed stamped envelope and ask prices for copying. Then you can chose the records you want from the index. Many times we search for names, dates and deaths and forget to check out the history of the state in which our ancestors lived. They traveled on the water and settled near it. Generally.. The first time they bought was when they came and the last time they sold was when they left. If you can find a 1878 copy of The History of the United States by Ridpath, you can find the state history of the very early times of boundaries and where and why people were moving to new locations in the time frame you are researching. History often tells us the why and how. calj@bright.net -----Original Message----- From: crawford-request@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, November 26, 2012 3:00 AM To: crawford@rootsweb.com Subject: CRAWFORD Digest, Vol 7, Issue 38 Today's Topics: 1. He then came to Morgan Co., OH where he died. On Nov 25, 2012, at 7:39 AM, K Powell wrote: > Where in PA, do you know?
