my stone wall is finding the parents of William H Crawford, b Dec 1845, Mercer Co., VA (WVA) and died 1913, Pleasant City, Guernsey, Ohio. He was in the 5th OVC for the Union Army from Feb 1865 to Oct 1865. Believe he is part of the Zachariah Crawford and Jane Bowling family because they and their children Charles A., John B,Thomas, Rueben, Sallie and Margaret Harriet were the only other Crawfords living in Mercer Co, VA in 1850-60. Believe he may be illegitimate son of one of kids as Z and Jane seem too old. He is not the Wm H who was son of Chas and Chloe Bailey Crawford who was confederate soldier and died of Camp fever in Lewisburg in 1861. Also, know Thomas was father of Zachariah, b 1779, but cannot find where that Thomas came from or who his parents were. Thomas ws listed as father on Zachariah's death certificate in 1867. After he died we find his widow Jane and son John B and family and M Hariett Crawford Thomas all in Meigs Co Ohio where my Wm H was when he enlisted in army in Feb 1865 and married Mary E Lovett in 1866. any help or direction on Wm's parents or Zachariah's parents roots would be appreciated!!!
