Some published material identifies the parents of this Thomas rawford as John Crawford and Mary Duke of Hanover County, Virginia. This inkage is also repeated as correct by Ancestry.com and in the Mormon church ecords. I have never believed that this John and Mary were the parents ecause John's birth year was given as 1737, which makes him too young to be he father of a man with an 11 year old child in 1753, which Thomas Crawford as. I have some material, written and researched by Helen Imrey, that comes to he same conclusion as I do but from a different direction, by meticulously tudying the land records around Georgetown. She identifies three different nd distinct Crawford families, one of which is my ancestor Thomas Crawford, nd another of which is the family of John and Mary Duke Crawford. While here may be some connection, which I doubt, between my Thomas and this John nd Mary, it is not that of parent and child. The family of John Crawford f Hanover County, Virginia, is a prominent, well-documented family and I on't think that Thomas was closely related to that family. In any event, I thought this well-written and -researched material might be f interest to some of you on this list. I will be happy to send this aterial in a Word document to anyone who is interested (it is too large to irculate via Rootsweb) if you send me your direct email address. In articular, if any of you are researching my Thomas Crawford, I would very uch appreciate hearing from you. ale M Crawford alemcrawford@comcast.net ------------------------------ o unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to CRAWFORD-request@rootsweb.com ith the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of he message
