    3. Looking for relatives of my great-grandfather, William Crawford, of South Dumfries, Ontario, Canada. He self-identified as a laborer in 1877. He had a non-spousal relationship with Annie S.E. Faus/Fauss, also of South Dumfries, and they had a son, Louis Faus/Fauss in October 1877. He signed the birth register as the father and was present in his son's life, for a short time at least, because when Louis' first son was born, he named him William Crawford Faust (Louis added a "t" to his surname when he crossed the border into Michigan). I know people are leery of the possibility that one of their ancestors fathered a child out of wedlock, but that child was my grandfather, and the namesake, William Crawford Faust, was my dad. I have no idea how old William Crawford was in 1877, but Annie Faus/Fauss was 20. She married William Packer in 1882. Many thanks, Glenna

    3. For a split second I had my hopes up. My William C. Crawford came from Ohio and was born about 1844. He settled in Southern Illinois and at one point had two wives at the same time. He died in Cairo, Alexander Co., Illinois. He is my major brick wall.
