    2. Donna Stark
    3. Kentucky has tax records for every year. If you find your relative one year but not the next then you know he/she died during that period. You might also call the county in which this person died and see if there is a deed for them. The deed is usuallly filed the first court date after death. The division deed will also name every heir, spouse or anyone inheriting. Deeds are a lot of work, but really great when you find the special one. Donna in Ky. 3. I have a James M. Crawford, MD who was given an Unconditional Headrights Certificate # 32 ...640 acres on 27 Feb 1843 a land grant in Washington County, Texas. He had served in the War for Texas Independence. He was also in Texas prior to the War. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Donna Stark Sent: Friday, February 16, 2007 9:30 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] PLEASE LIST STATE AS WELL AS COUNTIES Can you find an 1830 census index for Alabama and see how many Crawfords are there? Our State Historical Society has these and you could probably find them at the Mormon library. You might also be able to contact someone at a Mormon library if they do not have one close to you. They are usually helpful. I am not Mormon but went to Salt Lake City once and loved the area and the records there. If you could find a deed from them when they left Al or when they first got to Texas, it may tell where they left from in AL. Good luck. Donna ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary L. 3. Don't forget that most states require a Burial Permit. These are usually filed whereever other vital records are filed in that particular state. In South Carolina I would check with the County Registrar or Department of Health. If you can't find where they are filed in a particular state contact the Secretary of State's office and they should be able to direct you. 3. Can you find an 1830 census index for Alabama and see how many Crawfords are there? Our State Historical Society has these and you could probably find them at the Mormon library. You might also be able to contact someone at a Mormon library if they do not have one close to you. They are usually helpful. I am not Mormon but went to Salt Lake City once and loved the area and the records there. If you could find a deed from them when they left Al or when they first got to Texas, it may tell where they left from in AL. Good luck. Donna ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary L. 3. Donna & Mary. Regarding my Zillah Crawford. I think someone "jumped the gun" in respects to her mother being Margaret Buchanan. In all my 10 years of research, I have not found that to be true, as I have found nothing. Her father may not have even been John Crawford. The info you sent me on her DOB is the facts I have. She & P.W. Owen ( Pinckney) married most likely prior to 10/1837, and in Texas but they were not in TX before Spring of 1837. So the search continues. I thought perhaps her name may have been Priscella & just called Zilley, but-------- Thanks for all the help. any more would be appreciated. Wanda

    1. Re: [CRAWFORD] Crawford from Kentucky to Idaho...
    2. Sorry, I don't know. My Crawfords are a mystery and I've done everything I know to find them. I'm a transplant and presently live in the Boise area. My GGrandfather is Joseph Crawford from Nebraska. There is possible links to Kansas, Iowa and Oklahoma. Thanks for the email. RhondaK.

    3. I was the submitter (as Harrison) on the one in the Macon (and Clay, I think) County Heritage book. I know/knew Henley and Jim Beam, and shared my research with both. EG, of course, is most likely Emerson Gram. Who actually submitted the article? If it was based on my original research, it won't help us. Wonder who wound up with the family Bible. . . . I need to go poke around in the Burke County court records for a few days. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 14, 2007 12:56 PM Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] Crawford from VA>NC>TN> Texas > Linda, the one lead I am following is from the "Haywood County Heritage > North Carolina" Vol. 1 published 1994.
