    1. [CRAWFORD] Simeon & Eliza Crawford
    2. James Foster
    3. I have noted several messages lately referring to finding gravesites, etc., and I am hoping someone can tell me what to do. Simeon & Eliza (Martin) Crawford were born in Ontario, migrated to Michigan about 1850, in Wisconsin census in 1870, in Kansas census in 1880. Family sources state they both died in Florida in 1888. I have a copy of a letter each wrote in July 1887 to their son describing where they are living--creek in NE corner, highest point on land 10 ft. above creek, creek on nw corner, spring water runs year around--but that could describe anywhere. Evidently his son had asked about "hammock land" and he states there is none there but the store clerk came from "Cala*ena (writing not clear) County where there is hammock land. I've tried googgling that county name with several letters and find none anywhere. I've checked the Florida listing of deaths, paid for a death certificate with Florida state, and looked at the www.Findagrave.com but find no help. Since they would have traveled by wagon and horse in the 1880's I have assumed it would be north Florida (& assumptions cause trouble!) I would appreciate any suggestions. Sylvia Foster

    2. ARE THEY DOING THIS NOW INSTEAD OF THE ORIGIANAL DEATH CERT.? IF THERE IS A WILLIAM CRAWFORD THAT MAY BE THE FATHER OF SOME OF POLLY'S CHILDREN AND A JOHN ACCORDING TO THIS DEATH CERTIFICATE-WHICH MEN COULD THESE POSSIBLE BE? THE WILLIAM ON THE CRAWFORD WEB SITE THAT WAS GIVEN CREDIT AS FATHER OF WILLIAM H.? DO ANY OF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE CRAWFORDS OF SULLIVAN CO. TENN? THERE IS SOMETHING ON THE NET ABOUT TABITHA'S PENSION FROM HER DEAD HUSBAND THAT WAS A CRAWFORD. SHE HAS ONE CHILD NAMED ZACHARIAH. WHEN SHE REMARRIED HER FATHER-MARTIN CRAWFORD CAME TO LIVE WITH HER FROM VA. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN BORN ABOUT 1787. SEE BELOW. I HAVE THOUGHT FROM THE BEGINNING THAT MARTIN CRAWFORD OF 1750 AND ZACHARIAH OF 1780 ARE RELATED VERY CLOSE. THEY ARE BOTH DIRECT LINES OF MINE ONLY MARTIN ON MY GRANDMOTHER'S AND ZACHARIAH ON MY GRANDFATHER'S. IF YOU READ THE CHILDREN'S NAMES ON BOTH SIDES THERE ARE ZACHARIAHS EVERYWHERE AND OTHER NAMES THAT ARE REPEATED OVER AND OVER. CAN WE DIG INTO THIS AS A GROUP AND MAYBE FIND SOME ANSWERS? THERE JUST HAS TO BE SOME INFORMATION SOMEWHERE THAT WILL GIVE US A CLUE. 3. Kit, I too am a descendent of Capt. David Crawford. I believe Tom Hobbs, who is excavating Assasquin, the home I believe Capt David moved from, told me about you. I had your military address but hadn't contacted you yet. You probably know that Tusculum, the house he lived in in Amherst, has been torn down and will be restored on the campus of Sweet Briar College, this because his grandaughter (?), Marie Antoinette, married a man name Elijah Fletcher and they eventually resided at Sweet Briar House. Their daughter, Indiana, married a Williams. Their daughter, Daisy, died at 16 and it was in her memory that Indiana Fletcher Williams left SB plantation for the founding of an educational instution for women. I wish I had info about your ancestors, but I don't. Would love to hear back rom you.
