I have been searching for a Beatrice Crawford, sister of Frederick Crawford Dunn. Their mother,Beatrice also, was a Crawford from the Ethan Allen Crawfords of Crawford Notch, NH. She later remarried a Dunn and resettled in MO somewhere, but no living member of the family can provide any more details. My great-grandfather, T. O. Crawford was born in Illinois, but found in Smith County, Texas in the 1880 census. I believe his son, Thomas, b. Apr. 1880, was my grandfather, Thomas O'Neal Crawford (I found him in the Van Zandt County, Texas 1910 census listed as Thomas (without the middle name) and it states his father was born in Illinois. My dad, listed as son Carl, in the 1910 census, was given the middle name of O'Neal and it has been handed down for another two generations. I love the name "O'Neal" and would like to know the origin, but doubt I'll ever figure it out. Along the same lines as "Bobmanet", does anyone know a Crawford who married an O'Neal? That's my Dad's middle name, my grandfather's middle name and possibly my g-grandfather's middle name (haven't proved that one yet). Does anyone have Crawfords in Defiance Co Ohio or Livingston Co Missouri Patti Taylor Sacramento Calif
I've been researching my ALLEN family for the past 30 yrs and I continually discover the name of CRAWFORD as a given name as well as a surname, but can find no connection. Most recently, I discovered an Eva Crawford m. (1884 in Edgar Co, IL) a W.E. DAVID who is described as a nephew of my Allen ancestor who is also from Edgar Co, IL. Can anyone connect ALLEN, CRAWFORD, or DAVID in eastern Illinois or western Indiana 1840-1900? Any help will be welcome. Thanks. Merri
Robert, Our Crawford family were all from Dumfriesshire, between Lockerbie and Annan in Scotland, and came to Pennsylvania via an extended stay in County Antrim, Ulster. Most migrated from the Port O'Larne on the Northeast Coast of Ulster to the United States. There are alot of records on the Crawfords at the Public Records of Northern Ireland (PRONI) in Belfast and you may find the Scotch-Irish List (S-I) helpful. Our "Southern" Crawford line made at least 6 migrations that we know of with the Irvines (House of Drum), McDowells, Wylies, Shaws, Johnstons, etc. starting 1568-1610 from Scotland to Antrim, 1680-1739 from Antrim to Pennsylvania/ Maryland/ Virginia, 1750-1792 from Virginia to the Carolinas, 1805-1820 from the Carolinas to Georgia/ Alabama, 1832-1851 from Georgia/ Alabama to Mississippi, and 1849-1908 from Mississippi to Texas. My family remained in Mississippi. The Crawfords and Boyds were both very prevalent in Counties Antrim and Down, Ulster based on our past research. Good Luck. Hi Dick, I have a Robert Crawford that was born in 1800? in Ireland who married a Martha Boyd b. 1805 who said later to come from Co. Cavan, Ireland. They turn up at Port Hope, Canada about 1825 where they are trading in real estate. They had at least 6 children there but decided to move to Owen Sound, Ont., Canada in the 1850's. The first son is also named Robert Crawford b. 1834. Both died in Owen Sound and I have the grave numbers. I have a fairly complete family history in Canada but have had no luck in finding anything in Ireland even though i visited Ireland a couple of times. That is the problem and I wonder if you have any Irish in you - probably going into Scotland? Someone must have a connection or some data about the Irish side. Any suggestion gratefully received! Cheers, Robert T. Crawford
I have a pretty good accounting for the family of my gt.gt. grand father, Robert Crawford. He was born somewhere in Ohio in !809, appears in the records in Covington ,Ind. in 1833 to register his marriage to Mary Hare(?). He and Mary lived in the area along the Ill.-Ind. border producing 13 children between the early 1830s and the late 1850s. My g. grandfather, Franklin W. Crawford was the 11th of this prodigious brood Beyond 1809 Robert the trail gets a little more tenuous. The father of 1809 Robert is also supposed to be a Robert, allegedly born in Pa. and married to a woman named Elizabeth. I have the names of some of 1809 Roberts siblings but I'm not as confidant of the accuracy. Whoever compiled the original genealogy of this branch tried to connect this in a direct line to Col. Wm Crawford who was burned at the stake in the vicinity of Sandusky, Oh.. in 1782. There is no direct connection between my line and the Col., but the possibility of a collateral connection is arguable. If this sounds like a connection to your line, let me know and I'll send you all the other tidbits in my possession. There are certainly a hell of a lot of Wms. and Roberts roaming the frontier at that time Fraternally yours, Dick Crawford ----- Original Message ----- From: "Al Crawford" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 09, 2007 4:08 PM Subject: [CRAWFORD] Pa to Ohio > The list is hot now so maybe I'll find someone else who is following the > Crawfords who left Pa around the mid 1800's and settled in and around > Findlay, Oh. > Many, many Robert's, Johns and William's. > > "Point Place, Ohio" > The Best Place Anyplace > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
Looking for information on Clara Crawford & Lucinda Crawford said to have married brothers. Benjamin Franklin Harris m Clara Crawford in 1879 in Allen County & Henry Harris married Lucinda Crawford in about 1885. I cannot prove that Benjamin is a brother to Henry.. Also Benjamin Franklin Harris used the name Frank or Franklin on a couple of legal documents as well as his marriage record. Anyone know about legalities about using middle names on marriage licenses, etc.. A renter all his life Benjamin FRANKLIN Harris has been a real brickwall as to ancestry. ---

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. You are so correct as that description could describe anywhere in Florida. Hammock land is an area with a lower elevation, even slightly with a grove of oak trees growing close together. Because lower, usually wetter. Not swamp but wetter lands than the surrounding area. My husband is from Florida and is 85 years old. This is how he described it. He said it was great for squirrel hunting and that helped keep a lot of people alive during the Great Depression. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Foster" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2007 6:38 PM Subject: [CRAWFORD] Simeon & Eliza Crawford >I have noted several messages lately referring to finding gravesites, etc., >and I am hoping someone can tell me what to do. > > Simeon & Eliza (Martin) Crawford were born in Ontario, migrated to > Michigan about 1850, in Wisconsin census in 1870, in Kansas census in > 1880. > > Family sources state they both died in Florida in 1888. Looking for parents of Wright Crawford. My family says he was born in SC ,1820 .died in Mo. in 1848. Married Elizabeth Matilda Cox in Gasconade Co. Mo ,1841. Their son, James Cox Crawford , is my line in Okmulgee Co. Oklahoma. E. Matilda Crawford later married A.T Willis. [email protected]
I believe my Crawford line maybe the same as yours. My gggg grandfather was Charles Crawford born 1787 and married Lucy Margaret McNeill. Charles had a brother, William. William married Lucy's sister, Catherine McNeill. Charles and Lucy Crawford and William and Catherine Crawford moved from North Carolina to Robertson County (near Sumner County) Tennessee around 1820. I have not been able to determine the names of Charles and Williams parents. The only possible clue I have is that Charles and William were second cousins to the Captain Crawford who served under George Washington. Charles was a teacher, preacher, and a justice of the peace. Any information you can share that will help me determine the parents of Charles and William Crawford would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
