I have received some recent notifications of DNA matches from Family Tree DNA, however I realized I can't recall having seen any postings from this list lately. My cousin took the DNA test for our line, and we are part of the Lineage 1 Group. I believe our earliest known ancestor is John Crawford of Rutherford Co. NC who received land grants in that county in the late 1700's, post Rev. War. Is there anyone else in the list group who has participated in the DNA testing who is part of Group 1 and can trace their line back to NC, particularly the Rutherford Co. area? Seeking information on my 4th great grandmother Sophia Crawford Fassleton Van Guilder who married Ezekiel Van Guilder (my 4th gr grandfather)in Georgia,Vermont on September 23, 1819. She was possibly born in Vermont but could have been born in another New England state Bet. 1793 - 1800. She died in Milton,VT on June 03, 1886. She was the mother of at least 2 children;George b. abt. 1820 and Maria (my 3rd gr grandma) who was born June 09, 1821 in Georgia,VT.I'm assuming Crawford was Sophia's maiden name and Fasselton was probably the surname of her 1st husband. Any information on Sophia would be greatly appreciated. Noreen Maloney LaTour Burlington,VT

Cathy Your Crawfords look like the ones in our tree. Are you from the Sissonville, WV area? I live over in Jackson County, WV. Russ
Yes that looks like ours. Also that name Sisson could be from around these parts. Russ Dean
This does not look like our Crawford. Nancy Susan DeHart married a Ezra Francis Crawford. I have Crawfords that were in Grundy County very near the Livingston County Line. The father of the family had two uncles in Ohio as well as land that was willed to him in 1822. The family moved to MO in the 1840's. Their Daughter, Eliza, born in Washington County PA, married my G-grandfather Samuel Hawkins. The father was William Crawford and his wife Elizabeth Poole. Their children that I have in my list are; Henry MAriah William Eliza Edward Victoria I probably have more information, not in my list, but provided by Crawford my cousins, if there is any connection. Edwina, Are you aware that a Lemuel Crawford died in the Alamo? Could that have been your Lemuel? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, 8 Mar 2007 1:23 PM Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] SURNAME: CRAWFORD-SINGLETON Hi Anita, I am just dropping a line ...just for records sake, u know how hard it is finding clues! My gr gr grandmother was Elizabeth CRAWFORD, seems I have somewhere who her parents name was, but I'm under the impression that she and her husband, John Redwood SINGLETON were both fr/England. You'd think that the middle name 'Redwood' would strike a memory to someone, but as many times as I've sent out messages, I never get a response. Who in the world would name thier son 'Redwood' ????? But my information to you is that they lived in Hannibal, MO and at least 2 sons were born there before moving on to E TX, then to Jack CO, TX. I don't know how far into this migration the John & Elizabeth went, but that is the trail of the known sons, Lemuel and Harry. Also, making mention that there is an Elizabeth SINGLETON buried in 1849 in a Palmyra Cemetery just on the west side of the Mississippi River there at Hannibal. Thank you, & let me know if u know of any of these names in your tree! I'm looking for Gomillion's who are the descendents of Eliza Crawford-Gomillion and Charles Gomillion. I have narrowed it down to Beech Island, Jackson, Aiken, Kathwood, South Carolina. If any Crawford or Gomillion's are members of St. Catherine CME Church or Mt Pleasant Missionary Church located in Jackson, SC. You could be the missing connection.

I am looking for anyone who has a Crawford who came to Cincinnati or Hamilton Co. Ohio ca 1800-1820. I have John Anderson Crawford born 1800 in PA, definitely in Ohio starting as early as 1825. Not sure where he is from in PA, trying to connect to others that may have come around the same time. Greg Atlanta
