    1. [CRAWFORD] SCOTTS CRAWFORDS
    2. Barb H
    3. (My apologies, list master, for sending my initial email in rich text. No wonder it wasn't posted) Is it possible to find out if anyone is after CRAWFORDS from Falkirk/Muiravonside, Stirlingshire in Scotland? I hate these surname lists just lately. For years and years I have been on them, I faithfully receive all the messages you all send - and when I try to reply, suddenly I'm told I'm not a member! If anyone is after Scottish CRAWFORDS and not American ones - I would love to hear from you. I have a fair few 'strays' collected from farand wide in Scotland for my direct surnames, Stirlingshire in particular, and am very willing to share. I am in the process of uploading a number of files of various surnames throughout Scotland on my website and once this is done I will let you know the address. 3. Hello List, Well, Judy from West Virginia was the second person to express an interest in the Lucy Crawford book, so I'll be mailing that book to her. Thanks to all who expressed an interest in the book. I am glad that Judy also let us know that the book is still available through amazon.com. I hope those who still want the book can get it from that source. It was fun seeing the response that the book generated. I hope maybe that some of you made some new connections with others in your family line through all of the different emails that came through. Thanks again to all of you, Barb Crawford

    3. If I am, I don't know it. I don't have anyone back that far on my Crawford line. Just Thomas mentioned before b. 1784 in Virginia. Your James b. 1775 could be in the family back further than I have. With a difference of 9 years, they could have been brothers or perhaps cousins. I'll be so happy when I know more (from my lips to God's ears). 3. My Mississippians were in Fulton, Itawamba County. The names you mention are not in my files. My first known Crawfords were Thomas b. 1784 in Va. m. Jenny James b. 1780 in SC. Both died circa 1860 in Fulton, Mississippi. One of their sons, Moses, b. bef 1816 in SC m. Mary Reed b. 1824 in Alabama were my great great grandparents. One of their sons, James Monroe, b.11 Aug 1846 in Fulton m. 1st unknown, m. 2nd Nancy Riggs b. 17 Jul 1838, Alabama, were my great grandparents. James Monroe died in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas in 1913 and I don't know what happened next to Nancy Riggs. Their daughter, Rose Lee was my grandmother (mothers' mother). Sorry I can't help you, but if "anyone out there" reads this and can add to my knowledge of my ancestors, I'd really appreciate it. Love, Mimi Be careful trying to connect to my family tree. I dig and dig for roots, but only find a handful of nuts. ----- Original Message ----- From: Pat McKnight To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, August 05, 2007 1:41 PM Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] Lucy Crawford Book Mimi, I read with interest that your ancestors came through Mississippi to Texas and never went back East. I first find this family in the 1880 census of Smith County, Texas listing four children....William A., Charlie, Thomas and Mary. I am convinced the son Thomas is my grandfather and his middle name is O'Neal. I've been successful researching the 1st son, William A. Crawford and also a little on 2nd son Charlie. 1. [CRAWFORD] Pennsylvania Archives
    2. Dave and Barb Crawford
    3. Hello List, I am forwarding an email below that I received from the Westmoreland Co., PA mailing list. I have not used the site, but find it very interesting. If you have questions regarding how to use the site, I won't be able to answer them, but perhaps Marie Robinson, who wrote the initial email, may be able to help you. Hope it helps someone. Barb Crawford Hocking Co., OH In the last few weeks, the Pennsylvania Archives has added some remarkable free online resources to the already-available Warrant Registers at: http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/bah/dam/landrec.htm "Scanned Land Records" These pages include instructions on how to search the records, and an abbreviated history behind the early process of recording the land transactions. I've been ordering these survey maps from the Archives for seven years for mapping purposes and it is truly a wonderful addition to online research to be able to avoid the cost and time of waiting for search results and photocopies of survey maps, warrants, and patents to arrive by snail mail. In addition, the Archives may, in the near future, accept volunteer help in transcribing the already easy-to-read records so in the future a database can be searched rather than having to review page-by-page hundreds (likely thousands) of pages. Possibly RootsWeb could help the Archives to organize this effort. Specifically the resources are: Warrant Registers Patent Indexes Copied Survey Books Patent Tract Name Index East Side Applications (Register) West Side Applications (Register) New Purchase Register Please pass on as I am only emailing the Pennsylvania lists pertaining to my research!
