    3. Robert: Lydia's birth year was taken from the Illinois census of 1860 which showed her age at 50. The birth date of Henry P. was taken from his death certificate (Mason County, IL., Death Register, Book 1, page 12, certificate 148) which showed he died at age 56 years, 5 months, and 24 days, which put his birth at Aug 22, 1822. He was born in Bond County, IL. Sylvia's birth year was taken from the 1850 Illinois census which showed her age at 28. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2007 12:29 PM Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] (no subject) > > There appears to be a problem with either Lydia's or Henry's birth dates.? > Also, take a look at Sylvia's birth date. > > > > I have been following this e-mail traffic in the off chance that Charles > was connected to the Amherst Co. 2. Laura Gould
    3. Hello, I have very little information on the Crawfords I am looking for, but hope they sound familiar to someone. George Crawford married Sarah Rice. They were both born in Ireland. They had at least two children in Canada, Robert born June 1852 (according to his marriage record he was born in 'lower Canada') and Frank born November 1858. Robert and Frank both end up in Kent County, Michigan for the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census. Robert married Patience Dearborn October 13, 1875 in East Whitley, Ontario. They had five children: Charles b. 1877 Canada, Florence b. about 1879 Michigan, James b. South Dakota (appears to be listed in 1900 census twice, once with Robert born b. Jan. (June) 1886 and once with Patience b. Dec. 1885??!), Frank b. 1884 South Dakota, and John. Robert and Patience divorced and I believe he remarried someone named Etta Vreeland. Frank married Amanda ? and according to the 1910 census had 8 children, 3 of whom were still living. Names of children in the census are: Leslie L. b. 1886, Eva B. b. 1888, Nobel Russell J. b. 1891, (three children were born before these three and two after that apparently all of whom died young). Eva B. married a Bennson (?) and had two children Illa and Arthur. Any bells? Laura

    3. I, too, am looking for information on Dr. Crawford. I was told by some relatives that my James DAVID Crawford's father was a doctor in Alabama. (This was related down through the generations so it very well could be the same person.) I'd like to compare notes with anyone to see if I can make the connection. JD's Civil War discharge paper states he was born in NY. Others in the family believe he was born in Alabama or the deep south. 3. Patti: I appreciate your sending your Ahnentafel on the John Crawford question. You have included a couple of pieces of new information that I have not run across before and I am hoping you can help me track down the source. The idea that our John Crawford who died in Jamestown in 1676 (the father of David born c1625) was the son of John Crawford and Margaret Blair is one that has circulated in several Crawford sources for years. But as was pointed out to me by several other researchers, John Burke's The Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Commoners of Great Britain and Ireland clearly states that John Crawford, the son of John and Margaret, died in Scotland not Virginia and never emigrated to the Virginia Colony. In fact he inherited his father's property in Kilbirnie and so had no reason to go to Virginia. However I have never before seen your information that 1) John Crawford married Margaret Cunningham and 2) that both of them are buried in Watertown, Massachusetts. The only Margaret Cunningham I have ever run across in this line is the one who was born c1560 and died c1620 in Scotland and married in Scotland c1580 Malcolm Crawford (born c1555 and died c1610 in Scotland). Can you help me with the sources for this marriage and their burials in Massachusetts? Have you by any chance seen their graves or any sources that list the location of their graves? Thank you for you help. You probably cannot help with this very frustrating question but I will go ahead and ask anyway. Unless something has changed in the recent past that I am unaware of, we American Crawfords are stuck at John Crawford who to the best of our knowledge was born in Scotland c1600 and was killed in Bacon's Rebellion near Jamestown in 1676. He was the father of David Crawford (born c1625) who was the ancestor of several US Crawford lines. I haven't found anyone who has definitive information on John's parentage or where exactly in Scotland he was from. The best theory I have seen is that he was perhaps the same as John Crawford, the Rector of Halden, who was the son of Hew (or Hugh) Crawford of Jordanhill in Renfrewshire. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Is there any chance that you have information on a cadet son named John of one of your Crawford lines emigrating to Virginia in the mid-1600s?
