I saved this message and only had time today to get to it. I have a solomon Crawford son of Michael Crawford and Elizabeth Minnich. solomon was born in March of 1833 but I have no death date. Born in Pa. He married Elizabeth UNKNOWN abt. 1858. they moved to Michigan where the following children were born: Ann Caroline-about 1858, Mary E. august 1860, Perca John or Percphan abt. 1862 died between 1870 and 1900, Bessie abt. May 1892. All born in Michigan Mary E. married Charles Phillips in MI and had 7 children. Re: Solomon: 1850 census listed as age 13 The only other record of him thus far found is in the records of Berkhaus Bethlehem Lutheran church in Beaver Twp., Jefferson Co. He is recorded as taking communion there on April 11, 1850 and on November 5, 1853. Wayne Wall gives his birth as sometime between 1830 and 1835. >From Wayne Wall, 2005 I just went through old censuses and Solomon was there from 1860 until after 1910 in Manistee County, Marilla Twp. Michigan Solomon was also in the Civil War ( Company G, 9th Calvary Regiment Michigan, Union ) Solomon's wife's name was Elizabeth (born in Dec 1839 in PA) She was still living in 1930 with their daughter Mary E. Phillips. Does this connect with your Simeon? I also hate what happened, I did not see the letters, so I wonder if they were as bad as they were said to be or if someone over reacted and treated our local relatives badly. But, I have to say that the good that we got done far outweights the bad. If you had not spoken up, the house would have been lost and that would have been a tragedy of hugh proportions! We all thank you so much for saying something, I did not even know about the house until you said something. On Sept 9th of 01 I was in the Amherst area. I met some wonderful people there, the people that owned Tusculum at that time were not connected with the Crawford family at all. I made had made a local contact prior to my arrival and called them when I arrived and got the number for the owners of the property. I was extremely polite to them, explained who I was and where I was from (Nevada) and asked permission to go on the property. They hung up on me. The ladies I met at the church yard in Clifford, told me to just go on to the property, which I didn't. (they also invited me to go to Sweet Briar for some reception, which I declined as I was not dressed for such an event!) At least I got to see the home from a distance before it was moved. There is a development off of Fletcher's Level Road called Tusculum. Anyway two days later it was Sept 11, and every thing changed........... I love the area and would love to move back to Virginia again. (I lived in Alexandria in the 70's). Dear Barbara, Welcome back. I'm apparently new to this site since the troubles with your mother started. So, hello and thanks for being here, ... uh, there ... well, you know, wherever you are, thanks. God bless you, your mother, and your well meaning son. The Lord restore your work. Is there any way to get an e-mail with the link to your web-site in it? Also, I'm not sure how to post this stuff in my little "genealogy book" we got at a reunion, is there a form to fill out or something? There are no places of birth, death etc., just b-d dates. It only goes back to my g-grandfather born in 1873. I think I remember them saying he was born in, or lived in Arkansas and moved to Texas (west Texas). A kind subscriber named Pat has been trying to help me; I don't know how all this works and who is (or are) the actual responsible for this list person (or people), but two or three, including the "list master" have definitely tried to help the rest of us out. Kudos to them (that's a favorable word in my dialect, I hope it's not offensive to any one on this site as I just found out there is a group of people to whom the word does not mean nice things). Anyway, hope to finally get more info on the Crawford's in Scotland and their genalogy prior to 1500. thanks, CE ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com
Pat, I'm so excited, I hope this isn't another dead end. I have a William Crawford born in 1873. He's the first one on the list we got at a reunion a few years ago. He married Lena Frances Parsley (1879-1954). He was deceased in 1951. I'm still working on understanding how this information in my booklet works, but it looks like the only son they have listed to him is William David Crawford botn in 1914 (deceased 1956). He was apparently my grandfather (whom I never knew). I believe they lived in Merkel, Texas a while, then moved to Midland, Texas. Is this anywhere close to anyone else's stuff? ce -----Original Message----- >From: Pat McKnight <[email protected]> >Sent: Aug 30, 2007 8:31 AM >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] Oklahoma Crawfords > >Betty, You didn't give any dates or time frames. > >Do any of the following names relate to your line of Crawfords? > >William Crawford (1873), his son Charlie Crawford (1894) who married Dollie >Blair (b. >From PA to Ringgold Co, IA, to Clay Co, MO One comment - Joseph's descendants are interesting! Maybe being youngest made him adventurous. With first wife Mary ANDERSON the family left Armstrong Co, PA for IA between 1840-1845. Eldest daughters Eliza and Helen married with HESSENFLOW neighbors. They likely led the crew into MO. After the war Lewis wandered to KS and then MO. I don't quite understand Preston yet, the eldest of the children of his 2nd wife were born TN right after the Civil War then sometime in the 1870s he/they rejoined the family in MO. Jeremiah and wife Catherine MARTIN moved their family to MI late 1870s. Youngest was Sarah born 1845 IA, I don't know if she expired or married young, she wasn't with the family 1860. Rebecca died 1873. Joseph apparently remarried with Mary ORR, a very young woman his children's age. They had children Maggie and Rosa Belle late 1870s MO. Per census I don't believe Joseph was born until about 1813, his brother Thomas was born 1805. Thomas also left PA about 1848 but for OH. Hi everyone - I'm back I think. My mother is finally off life support and out of hospital and has been home the past few days. <huge smile> I can finally pay attention to the list. Thank god for Paula! Ending all that political stuff! I do apologize about my web site? I was in such a hurry to upload the pages to my site in between trips to the hospital I never checked to see if they were up and running. And found out today they weren't. Once again I apologize. I will rectify it over the next few days. I hope what I have got to upload, and the rest that I have to add, as I get time will help anyone looking in Scotland. For those that were Emailing me, I do apologize also for not replying. Things were so hectic with my mother's health, and my son in his infinite wisdom decided to reformat my computer. I have lost all the emails and addresses for those I was talking to regarding Scotland - and in Stirlingshire in particular. If anyone is interested in that area of Scotland, would you please email me again? Happy ancestral hunting Barb Hafslund Brisbane Australia. -------Original Message------- From: [email protected] Date: 8/31/2007 5:03:22 PM To: [email protected] Subject: CRAWFORD Digest, Vol 2, Issue 137 Today's Topics: 1. Bob, I am just checking my e-mail after being awary a few weeks and don't know what this is about. I'm so sorry. I'm going to Sweet Briar Homecoming in a few weeks and there will be a session on Tusculum that I will attend. It might help me to know what happened. I'm very interested in encouraging people to contribute to the restoration of Tuscululm at Sweet Brian. It makes me sad that there was some unhappy business about it. Could you fill me in? I may not have reached a previous e-mail that discusses it, so no hurry with your response. I'm still checking e-mails. Thanks, Marian Harrison [email protected] wrote: Yes, what has happened is amazing and I certainly never expected it to be successful. As I indicated, the experience did leave a bad taste in my mouth for alerting folks to anything similar in the future. Several Crawford descendants or interested people acted very badly, which caused problems for the cousin of mine who arranged our tour of Tusculum. He never expected what hit him. He owned a business in Amherst, as did the owner of Tusculum. It strained their friendship. The next time, if there should ever be a next time, I plan to keep my mouth shut. In this case, the damage is done, so I say let's move forward. I, too, would like to attend, but I will probably be in Oregon on business.
