Hello Barbara, My Crawfords come from New Brunswick Canada and, as far as I know, there are no Lizze Bell Crawfords in the line. Sorry that I can't help and good luck with your quest. Hello Judy, Again I wish to give thanks to you for your help. I should have known better as I never saw and of my mom or dads family that was never talked about a NO-NO so you would think I would have asked on my sons and daughter families but thought all families were like mine so I was glad to get what I did on my sons fathers side. My daughters fathers side I don't even have any last names for the females and only abt. years as her father was killed when I was 2 mos. pregnant and they didn't like talking about family either as she my daughter's grandmother was a child of rape. Which I have to start also just trying to get my sons dads line going first. Again thank you, Barbara [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Penland" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, November 26, 2007 7:56 AM Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] Asking again can anyone help please > Hi Barbara, > > The social security death index gives Viola's birth date as 15 Sep 1908 > and her death as 28 May 2000, Gerber, Tehama, CA and her s.s. # issued in > Colorado. Hi Barbara, The social security death index gives Viola's birth date as 15 Sep 1908 and her death as 28 May 2000, Gerber, Tehama, CA and her s.s. # issued in Colorado. There is also an old address for her in Corona, Kings, CA. Unfortunately, we almost all start when it's too late to glean information from older relatives. If I weren't a pack rat, I wouldn't have had all the information I did have to start my research. It was long after my parents and my husband's parents had passed away. Good luck in your search and if I can be of any further help, just email me direct. Hi Barbara, I have no relationship to your Crawford or Gary line, but I have looked at Ancestry.com and found a little information. It is only a little, but it might give you something to build on. 1930 Census, Precinct 3, Donley, Texas lists William Gary age 22 b. abt. 1908 Texas and wife Viola age 21. The previous household is Mrs. L.B.Gary age 48 b. TN with children Buck age 23, Pearl age 20, Dee (son) age 18, J.C. (son) age 16, Gladys age 13, Ellanor (?) age 11 and Anniebell age 9. The chldren were all born in TX. Also, it lists Mr. L.B. as married, but she's the head of household and no sign of Arch. The 1910 census, Precinct 2, Dickens, Texas had Arch Gary age 37 married 9 yrs b Arkansas, Lizzie age 27 b. TX, having had 4 children and all 4 living. The children are listed as Nora age 7, Elige (son) age 4, Nelson age 2 and Pearl age 3/12. 1900 Census Justice Precinct 3, Fannin, TX has a Crawford, Ju(unreadable) b. Jan 1850 TX (both parents born TN). Shows him as married, but no wife listed. Children at home are Ada b. Sep 1890 age 9, Claud b Apr 1896 age 4, Jo (son) b Apr 1886 age 14, and Lizzie b Oct 1882 age 17. This may be your Lizzie, but I couldn't find any other census years to follow up on. A death record is listed for William Nelson Gary b. 6 Dec 1907 Texas, died 26 Oct 1991 Kings. This is in the California Death Index for 1940 - 1997. Hope this is a little help. Sorry it couldn't be more. Good luck. Does anyone have further information on these Crawfords? From VA Marriages to 1800 David Crawford married Christian Terry, 22 Dec 1782 Moses Crawford married Susanna Willis, 22 Dec 1782 Elizabeth Crawford married Stephen Clever, 7 Mar 1793 Strather Crawford married Nancy Hutison, 5 Oct 1800 I'm wondering if these people are related to George Crawford who was in the area at the same time. While researching using "Cavaliers and Pioneers, Abstracts of Virginia Land Patentd and Grants, 1623-1666", on page 271 I found the following entry: "George Smith, 200 acs. on S. side of Yorke Riv. behind land of George Gills & upon land of Rice Hutcheson. 8 Mar. 1652, p. 163. Trans. of 4 pers: George Smith, Phill. Crafford, John Crafford, Elizab. Crafford." I found this very interesting, could this be the John Crawford from Ayrshire? Does anyone know of a Phill. Crafford(Crawford) Thanks, Mary
Just curious if any this Crawford group had participated in the Crawford-DNA project. My line is Lazarus Crawford that originally came from North Carolina, Tennessee, then Oklahoma. I don't have by records very organized but it seems like we had 1-brother go to Arkansas and there was a cemetary record of that. I just read all the roosweb communications thinking some day we'll hit pay dirt. We have found several DNA matches that haven't found the common relative yet. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of MICHAEL CRAWFORD Sent: Sunday, November 11, 2007 12:54 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CRAWFORD] Wiliam 1850, Washington, ARK The 1850 census for Cane Hill, Washington County, Ark. lists the family of James Crawford, age 47, born in Tenn., his wife Lucivy, age 49, born in Tenn, and 5 children, Andrew, age 26, born in Tenn, Margaret, and 18, born in Ark, William, age 17, born in Ark. Hi Bob, As you say, don't think there are any connections. The Ralston side of my family were Scots/Irish but they are related further down the track. CRAWFORDS definitely from Scotland.
