    3. Thanks for your response Debbie Roland, to my Margaret Hannah Crawford query. As far as I am aware none of my Reid family of my Great grandparents generation migrated to America. I can't be certain however that some of the next generation (after 1870) didn't jump the Atlantic. Murray Reid.

    1. John Crawford of Londonderry
    2. Andrew Crawford
    3. I am looking to connect John Crawford who came to Rutland Ma about 1718 from Londonderry. The possible connection is: Alexander Crawford (of Killybegs) Alexander being the younger son of Malcolm Crawford (of Kilbirnie) sometime after his father's death in 1595 he removed along with many friends and relatives to the County of Donegal (known as the Portlough Patent) that was organized by the Duke of Lennox, Ludovic Stuart ) in northern Ireland, a part of "The Colonization of Ulster", in 1610. He became the owner of a ship, trading goods between Ireland and Scotland (with his uncle Sir John Cunningham and his cousins ?) Alexander married a Miss Critchton, of the Dumfries Critchtons. His oldest son was Alexander. The second son was John, who married Abigail Hamilton, sister of Captain John Hamilton of Shannon in the parish of Lifford. John settled in the parish of Clandermoyd (now Glendermot, in Londonderry). He died July 12, 1661 and was succeeded by his son John. Robert, the third son of Alexander was born about 1625. A daughter Janet was born next. Lawrence, the forth son, moved into the adjoining county of Fermanagh in the town of Cavancarragh. The fifth son was James, who lived in the parish of Drumholm and died in 1698. The sixth son was David of Drumholm who died in 1702. -- Andrew Crawford, 2785 IOE Dept., University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI 48109 734 764-9410, Ascott Corp 734 663-2023 http://ascott.com/

    1. Re: Moses Crawford
    2. Lawrence / Larry / Crawford
    3. Maxine, et al, Thanks for sharing this information with us. The Moses Crawford mentioned was my gr gr,gr, grandfather. He came to Ark. from Tenn. about 1820, settling on Spring River where he died in 1832. His wife, Milly, died in 1835. The document you cited, was filed in the old Lawrence County courthouse (now a museum) in Powhatan , Ark. The first recordings I have seen in the Powhatan courthouse were dated 1814. This was before Lawrence County was formed in 1815, and Arkansas territory, formed in 1819. My gr, gr, grandfather, Colby Crawford’s, marriage certificate was also recorded there in 1830. The area where these Crawfords settled is now in Sharp county. Incidentally, we still have an original land patent (on sheepskin) that was signed by President James Monroe. for a part of the Crawford land. The document you cited lists the other children of Moses & Milly (with misspellings). My lineage was through Colby , Moses S., Wann Moses, & Kermit . Colby Crawford(2-15-1807-10-13-1843) married Leticia English (Fryer) 11-4-1830 Their children were: David Orr Crawford(9-24-1831- Probably died in Eastland County, Texas around 1918) Moses S. Crawford (1-17-1836—4-16-1884) Rhoda Margaret Crawford(9-15-1833-died???) Lawrence C. Crawford (10-21-1838-11-7-1874) Colby (Jr.) Crawford (10-14-1841—8-13-1851) I LISTED THE ABOVE BECAUSE: I have seen some misinformation posted about this family and I believe from my records the above is correct. I am also looking for more information about David Orr Crawford in Texas during his later years. Can anyone help? He may have served in the Texas Rangers for a brief time. Both David O. and Moses S. served in the Confederacy during the Civil War, But I have no records about David’s service. We have some letters written during the Civil War, Moses’s discharge papers from Freemen’s Missouri Cavalry. and the 1851 Navy Colt he carried during the war., but nothing about David’s service except family stories that he did serve.
