Hello list, Since I have had numerous messages about the very bad mistake I made with Col Wm Crawford, I thought I should apologize and post the correct information. It was not Col Wm Crawford that is buried in the Wesleyan Cemetery, it is Col John Crawford. I had the Col Wm Crawford on my mind when I typed that message and should not have done so, so quickly. Information is this: COL JOHN CRAWFORD INDIAN WARS 1-12-1827 Ra 26, Gr. 2, Sec R The Wesleyan Cemetery is located on Colreine Ave in Cincinnati. Cindy
I am looking for information concerning the parents of Randolph Cummings Crawford. Randolph was born in Chicago, IL on 16 Oct 1882. I believe his father was George William Crawford and his mother was Annie Maria White. Randolph married Ilar Mae Jeter in 1912. She died in 1918. He then married Willa Belle Jeter 12 June 1919 in Kansas City, MO. They lived in Alva, Oklahoma and in 1937 moved to Grand Junction, CO. I don't have any information on Randolph's parents. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Jill Adkins Jill Adkins
Hey Cousins! I notice some of you may have money owed you by the government. To find out if you're on the list take a look at: http://www.hud.gov/wsrefund/html/page1.html Just type in your last name and you'll see a list of all our "rich" cousins. Good luck! Joan
Dale, Just found your reunion message on CRAWFORD-D. As you know I probably won't be able to attend, but thought you'd enjoy knowing one of my G-Grandfather's son settled in Shelby County, TX. Willis b 1925 SC, was there with his family in 1880. Evidently, his son Edgar 1861, must have marr & stayed there. Edgar was listed as 19 years of age in 1880. That is the only time I saw every member of that family listed together. My dau finally got me a census copy from Orlando, FL--only place in state with census for other states. Too far for most to go, takes over 5 hrs from here. Orlando is the home of "Mickey Mouse" and traffic. No one usually chooses to go there casually. What we need is Buck Rogers' "Twentieth Century" back packs to move us over to land--like space men working outside capsule. Buck Rogers was around in "Big Little Books" when I was young & reading--cica 1930. Didn't mean to write my life story, but there it is anyway. I have printout of a 1900 census, Shelby Co, TX--noted Pct 5, ED 90. If you're ever in the lib, would love a census photocopy of this. And maybe you could check his children in 1910 Soundex for me--time permitting. I see here Edgar dob is listed May 1860, and he was 39 in 1900. Together we may solve the riddle. Better searching for us both, Winkie

Dear CRAWFORD researchers/genealogists, Below I have copied the family line for John CRAWFORD b 1746, SC, son of James(John) CRAWFORD from the Ancestral file, which is online. Maybe this will paint an easier picture of the family than I can. Hopefully, it will trigger someone's memory of this member of this particular CRAWFORD family. My search for Mahalaleel (possibly aka Hal) CRAWFORD b abt 1802, SC, has provided me with many hours of online search. Many of you have responded & helped so much. Does anyone out there have anything on Hal b 1780? There is a reference in Sellers' book, The History of Marion County, "Hal married Mary MACE and went West." I have begun to believe he is the father of my Mahalaleel b abt 1802, who is reputed to have married Mary MACE by descendants of his daughter', Ann, b 1827 SC. He is believed to be the father of my G-grandfather, Willis b 1825 SC and brother of Ann. Found an M. CRAWFORD in the 1840 Monroe Co, AL, census, as well as land owned by Mahalaleel. Mahalaleel moved to Walton Co, FL, & was found in 1850 & 1860 census. Again there was land purchases there in 1850. In 1850 Mahollen (variant spelling) was 48 on the census record. This presents the probability it wasn't the older Hal b 1780 who went West, but possibly his son, Mahalaleel. Would appreciate any help anyone can give me regarding this family or any suggestions for finding more information. Hello all, While roaming around in the Wesleyan Cemetery this weekend, carrying my Cemetery book with me, I noticed that it says that Col. William Crawford is buried there. Wesleyan Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Cincinnati. I was wondering if anyone needed to know this information. I have Section Lot and grave number and will gladly post it if anyone is interested. I for one did not know if him being buried in Cincinnati. Cindy Crawford Ohio
This was newspaper clipping from a Unionville newspaper in Putnam County, Missouri. Ellen Eliza BROWN LEE was born in (either Barren or Warren --the first letter is missing) County, Kentucky in the year 1836 and departed this life August 16, 1927 at the age of 91 years, 4 months, and 14 days. At the age of 17 she was married to Hiram KIRK. To this union was born two children, George An Parker of Wilbur, Washington, and Martha Parker deceased. In two years after their marriage her husband was thrown from a horse and killed, after which the young mother was very lonesome for eight years. She was then married to Matthew CRAWFORD of Powersville, Putnam County, Missouri. To this union were born six children: Mrs Mary HOWRY, deceased; Andy Crawford of Powersville, Una Starr of Meridan Idaho, Mrs Nancy PAULEY of Powersville, Mo, Charles Crawford of Charles City, Iowa and Joe Crawford of Powersville, Missouri. She was a kind and loving mother, always ready to help those in need. In 1895 she was again left a widown. She then lived with her son Joe, until several years ago. She then broke up housekeeping and went to live with Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Pauley where she was tenderly cared for until something over a year ago, when she came to live with her son Andy Crawford in Powersville where he remained until her death. Services were held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. C. H. MURPHY, with interment in the Wyrekea cemetery.

Mike Crawford, I would be extremely interested in the pictures! My Crawford roots were from Kilbirnie. However, by the time the Castle burned, my Crawfords had been in America for about a hundred years. Nevertheless, I am very interested in their/my distant cousins and expecially pictures of the "old home place." I have just returned from a couple of weeks visiting in Scotland. One of the more elusive locations, as far as finding much information about, is the family of Crawfords that came from Kilbirnie and moved near Struthers and Cupar in the Kingdom of Fife. This is not my family line, as my interest was more in seeing where they lived and viewing the edifice involved. It has been referred to, as the Crawford Lodge, Priory and others. The small amount of information that I have is as listed below and I am in hopes someone can provide any additional material. I have seen and have taken pictures of this ruin and if anyone is interested, contact me on private email and I can send you a copy in Jpg format. In Kilbirnie....... [1] The Fourth Viscount George Crawfurd succeeded as the 21st Earl of Crawford upon the death of John Earl of Lindsay, 20th Earl of Crawford. He married December 26th, 1755, Jane Hamilton the daughter of Robert Hamilton, of Bourker Hill. He lived in Kilbirnie Castle until it burned in 1757 and was never rebuilt.. The family then resided in Fifeshire near Struthers. He died at Crawford Lodge, on the 11th of August, 1781 and was succeeded by his eldest son, George, as the 22nd Earl of Crawford who died in 1808 unmarried and the line ceased to exist. [2] I also received from another contact, information that was included in a book written in the late 1890's. It states the following. CRAWFORD PRIORY: a mansion in the North of Cults parish central Fife near the right bank of the Eden, 3 miles South West of Cupar. Built in 1813 by Lady Mary Lindsay Crawford who in 1808 had succeeded to the Crawford Lindsay estates on the death of her brother the 22nd Earl of Crawford. It was originally a splendid castel-lated edifice in the Gothic style but fell into neglect and dilapidation till in 1871-72 it was thoroughly renovated and enlarged. A carriage porch and vestibule being then erected at the south entrance and a Gothic tower and spire 115 feet high at the East side, whilst a portion of the interior was converted into a private Episcopal chapel. Any assistance will be appreciated.....Mike Crawford......... Montana

For those of you interested in the descendents of Aaron and Agnes Crawford of Rutland, MA (immigrants from Northern Ireland in 1713), the following info comes from the Vital Records of Rutland, Massachusetts, To the end of the year 1849 (published 1905). These records include "all that were found in the Town Books covering the period from the earliest date there recorded to the end of the year 1849. Baptisms, Marriages and Deaths from the records of the First Church, and Deaths from the gravestone inscriptions in the old Burial Ground have been added to make the record as complete as possible." The marriage information apparently also includes published intentions of marriage. I believe Rutland also had a Presbyterian church, and the source does not mention if those records were searched before compilation. I have preserved the original spellings, even when they appear inaccurate. Births: John, s. John and Isabell, Sept. 22, 1722. Mary, d. Aaron and Anna, April 15, 1721. Marriages: Alexander and Elizabeth Crawford, Feb. 5, 1735-6. [intention not recorded] Elizabeth and Alexander Crawford, Feb. 5, 1735-6. [intention not recorded] John of Weston and Wid. Hi To All Crawford List Subscribers, My name is Michael Law. You may remember 2 inquiries I sent over the past 4 months. I had written to the list hoping to find any information I could about my new found father - Samuel Crawford. I had told you that while doing genalogical research I had discovered that Tallie Law was not my father, and when I confronted my mother (after 41 years) she admitted to it and said Samuel Crawford was my father. The only information my mother had was his name and the last name of his sister & brother-in-law and the street they lived on in Columbus, OH. I immediately sent out an E-Mail to the Crawford list searching for any information. Well diligence paid off after receiving a Columbus City Directory for 1956-58 I had a first name for his sister & brother-in-law (Bertha & Clarence Arnold). I was then able to tie these names in with an ORBIT on Samuel Crawford. Using the names from the ORBIT I found his brother who put me in touch with a new half-sister. I haven't talked much with her, but I hope my letter and pictures of myself and children will help her feel more comfortable talking with me in the future. Thanks to all those who showed support! I was able from the ORBIT to get Samuel Crawford's father name. So asking for your assistance again. Samuel Crawford's father's name was Cleveland Crawford. From the Social Security Death Index he was born in 15 March 1884 and died in March 1977. While talking with Samuel's brother Burlin E. Crawford he did say they were all from Harrisonburg, VA. Anybody on the list have family who ties in with a Cleveland Crawford from VIrginia? Thanks Again, Michael Law

Hi All, Hoping someone can help with info on my Crawfords. I had found what I thought were my greatgrandparents on the 1880 Chambers co, Hickory Flat,AL Census, the place and age of my grandmother was right on the money. It showed: John & Emma Crawford children; Henry age 4 Bettie J. age 3 Susie age 11 mo. (my grandmother) The age & name & place for her was right on the money. Today I received the book "Heart Pine Straight" by WM Davidson and in it there was a photo of the home place of my grandparents and it said that Susan Lee Crawford's parents were; Hugh Crawford and Chastity Carmichael Says that my grandmother Susan Lee was born in Hamilton, Harris Co, GA. This has really thrown me for a loop. Does anyone know anything about Hugh and Chastity Crawford? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Mary m.hymel@cwix.com
