DWC, Are we talking about this part: ">1.THE Lord is my herd, nae want sal fa' me >2 He louts me till lie amang green howes; he airts me atowre by the lown >watirs:", etcetera? Now, I'm not a Bible scholar by any stretch of the imagination, but doesn't this sound like: 1. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want 2. He maketh me lie down in green pastures; he leads/leadeth me beside quiet/still waters What say ye? ;-) Marilyn -----Original Message----- From: DCrawf3815@aol.com <DCrawf3815@aol.com> To: DAZZLER@prodigy.net <DAZZLER@prodigy.net> Date: Wednesday, July 21, 1999 10:31 AM Subject: Re: "GOD SCHAW YE RICHT" >Could be, I don't know, but would be interested in knowing. > DWC

Sharing information with the "List"... Within the Auld Kirk of Kilbirnie, immediately above the plaque pertaining to Thomas Crawford, is the inscription "God Schaw Ye Richt". I have inquired to several of my learned friends, including Rev. Ian Benzie, of the Auld Kirk of Kilbirnie, as to the inscription's interpretation. All responded with very similiar interpretations. Rev. Ian Benzie responded: But your question!! Schaw is a Broad Scots word meaning 'show' and richt, likewise means 'right'. Quite how we might translate the literal 'God show you right' is open to question, but maybe we could think along the lines of 'God's paths are the true paths' or, God will show you the right. I will ask around further and try to get more information for you. Just for a bit of fun, I have attached something copied from a Scots Psalter dated 1902 - do you recognize it? "The sheep-keeepin o' the Lord 's kind an canny, wi' a braw howff at lang last: David keps his sheep; the Lord keeps David." Ane heigh-lilt o' David's. 1.THE Lord is my herd, nae want sal fa' me 2 He louts me till lie amang green howes; he airts me atowre by the lown watirs: 3 He waukens my wa'-gaen saul; he weises me roun, for his ain name's sake, intil right roddins. 4 Na! tho' I gang thro' the dead-mirk-dail; e'en thar, sal I dread nae skaithin: for yersel are nar-by me; yer stok an' yer stay haud me baith fu' cheerie. 5 My buird ye hae hansell'd in face o' my faes; ye hae drookit my head wi' oyle; my bicker is fu' an' skailin. 6 E'en sae, sal gude-guidin an' gude-gree gang wi' me, ilk day o' my livin; an' evir mair syne, i' the LORD'S ain howff, at lang last, sal I mak bydan. Kind regards to all the Crawfords, Ian.
1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to CRAWFORD-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to CRAWFORD-L-request@rootsweb.com. 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to CRAWFORD-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to CRAWFORD-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. ---------- >From: "Verla O'Keefe" <vjok@gs.verio.net> >To: CRAWFORD-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: remove name >Date: Tue, Jul 20, 1999, 7:19 PM > > Can anyone tell me how to get my name removed from all these email messages > I receive? There was a young Scottish boy called Angus who decided to try life in Australia. He found an apartment in a small block and settled in. After a week or two, his mother called from Kilbirnie to see how her son was doing in his new life. 'Aye, I'm fine, ' Angus said. 'But there are some really strange people living in these apartments. One woman cried all day long, another lies on her floor moaning, and there is a guy next door to me who bangs his head on the wall all the time.' 'Well, ma laddie,' says his mother, 'I suggest you don't associate with people like that.' 'Oh,' says Angus, 'I don't, Mam, I don't. No, I just stay inside me apartment all day and night, playing me bagpipes.'
Can anyone tell me how to get my name removed from all these email messages I receive? I no longer want to receive. Thank you. Verla vjok@gs.verio.net et

Hi All, This is all I have on my Crawford ancestors: William Crawford b. 1722 in VA, d. 1782 in OH, m. 1742 to Ann Stewart The Crawford line (I love this phrase) daughtered out with Anne Crawford who m. 1759 , James Connell. Anne Crawford b. 1743, d 1784, James Connell, b. 1742 Winchester, VA, d. 1776. Any matching cousins ???? Pollyanna in Cincinnati.
STRANGERS IN THE BOX Come, look with me inside this drawer, In this box I've often seen, At the pictures, black and white, Faces proud, still, serene. I wish I knew the people, These strangers in the box, Their names and all their memories Are lost among my socks. I wonder what their lives were like, How did they spend their days? What about their special times? I'll never know their ways. If only someone had taken time To tell who, what, where, or when, These faces of my heritage Would come to life again. Could this become the fate Of the pictures we take today? The faces and the memories Someday to be passed away? Make time to save your stories, Seize the opportunity when it knocks, Or someday you and yours could be The strangers in the box. ---------- ________________________________________________________ NetZero - We believe in a FREE Internet. OHIO The cross road of our nation Records & Pioneer Families October-December 1963 Vol. IV No. IV WYATT CEMETERY, WALDO TOWNSHIP, MARION COUNTY, OHIO (formerly part of early Delaware County) This cemetery is about a half mile north of the present Delaware County line, and about three miles south of the Greenville Treaty Line or "Indian Line." It was the burial place for Fort Morrow that stood close to the trail that ran north to Lake Erie. Land for the graveyard is said to have been given by Nathaniel Wyatt, whose home was included within the stockade of Fort Morrow. It was the earliest burial place in this neighborhood and was used by the Wyatts. Brundiges and some other early families. lately there has been some moving of graves because of the storage reservoir formed by the Delaware Dam on the Olentangy River, but most of the cemetery is above the encroachment of the river. The place had considerable care and is in good condition. A complete record of inscriptions was attempted, but some of the graves are placed irregularly, making it difficult to be sure of every one. Some graves have no markers, and a few are so weathered as to be difficult to read or even illegible. ALLISON, Jesse, died Jan. 26, 1829, aged 44 years.
