    3. Hi I am new to this list although i have been searching for some time. I have a lot of information on Scottich crawfords but would be intertested in swapping news, hearing results of other searches in both scotland and england as my ancestors earned some noteriety (sp!) in Kings Lynn in Englnad before moving to Australia and New Zealand. Hope to meet as many of my Crawford and other relations as possible -----Original Message----- From: Maxine Hornaday <hornaday@sat-co.net> To: CRAWFORD-L@rootsweb.com <CRAWFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, 8 August 1999 16:56 Subject: 1866-1871 Tallahatchie County Marriages > > >Found where a George Crofford and Caroline Worsham married Feb 16, >1869 >page 256 in Charleston Distric I > >

    3. Lyn, I am also researching Crawfords in Kentucky. My ancestor, Hugh CRAWFORD md Mary JEANS in Prince George Co, MD in 1780. I am finding this particular branch of the family in Fayette Co, PA records (with most likely earlier roots in MD) right before they came to KY. Hugh Sr and his son, Hugh Jr apparantly came down the Ohio from PA to Nelson Co, Kentucky where they settled on Coxes Creek (near Bardstown). I find them on a tax list there in 1789. I think that there were probably more Crawfords who came with Hugh down the river from PA. There are also a John and Samuel Crawford who had early deeds on Coxes Creek. Perhaps your Crawfords were also a part of this family? I would imagine that these Crawfords spread out across Kentucky. Is it just a coincidence that Fayette Co, KY is the same as the county they came from in Southeastern PA? I recently returned from a research trip to Salt Lake City and am still trying to wade through all the information that I have gotten and make sense of it all. Another person on this list mentioned a Hezekiah Crawford. I have seen that name recently and will see if I can find where it was. I would like to hear from anyone who connects with the Hugh Crawford family and might be able to help me straighten out on who were the siblings of Hugh Crawford of Nelson Co, KY. As a matter of fact, Hugh Jr and Mary Jeans had a lot of children and I have that information. If anyone is interested I will post it to the list. One of his sons was Hugh Caldwell Crawford, born in Nelson Co (I don't have the date), but he married Rebecca Foreman in 1829 in Nelson Co. . Please contact me if you have anything you can add about this family. Thanks, Pat Payne in Florida

    3. Sorry but I made a type error on the date of marriage to Adeline Brock it is March 27, 1892 instead of 1899. It seems like these people just dropped onto the earth as I have not been able to find anything before 1892. Any help at all would be deeply appreciated. 3. Lyn I don't think that I am related to James K. Crawford, but I have seen his name in my searches around Harrison Co., KY. As well as I can remember, it seems that he came down the Ohio River and through Campbell Co. from Pennsylvania. (Don't quote me on that.) I do have a Hezekiah Crawford, b. 1764, and a Henry Crawford, b. 1812, in my line. Hezekiah was from Spotsylvania Co., VA. and was married to Sally Powell in 1799. They moved to Fayette Co., Ky. They had several children including Henry and Hezekiah (Jr.) According to my records, Henry was born in 1812 and married Virginia Powell in Fayette Co., KY. I can't relate to any other Crawfords/Croffords on your list. I am desperately searching information on Hezekiah Crawford, b. 1764, but so far have hit a wall. Chuck in OH

    3. Can a first cousin, once removed, return? Cemetery: (n) A marble orchard not to be taken for granite. Crazy.... is a relative term in MY family. Genealogy: Chasing your own tale! Genealogy: It's all relative in the end anyway. Genealogy: Tracing yourself back to better people. I trace my family history so I will know who to blame. It's hard to be humble with ancestors like mine! Life takes it's toll. Have exact change ready! Searching for lost relatives? Win the Lottery! That's strange; half my ancestors are WOMEN! Do I even WANT ancestors? Some I found I wish I could lose. Every family tree has some sap in it. FLOOR: (n) The place for storing your priceless genealogy records. Friends come and go, but relatives tend to accumulate. Genealogists do it in the library. Genealogists live in the past lane. Genealogists never die, they just loose their roots. Genealogy: A hay stack full of needles. It's the threads I need. Genealogy: Collecting dead relatives and sometimes a live cousin! Genealogy: Where you confuse the dead and irritate the living. Heredity: Everyone believes in it until their children act like fools! I looked at my family tree...there were two dogs using it. I think my family tree is a few branches short of full bloom. Life is lived forwards, but understood backwards. My ancestors are hiding in a witness protection program. My family tree is a few branches short!
