I typed in Crawford and there were 300+ there. among them America Crawford m Owen Sutherlin on 8-17-1834 in Orange County. Augusta P Crawford m Solomon Harris 10-7-1848 in Gibson County. These were some of the names that I remembered . Were a lot of James and John's also. Max
Not sure if anyone has put this on or not but there is a searchable database on Marriages at http://www.statelib.lib.in.us/www/indiana/genealogy/mirr.html I was looking at the Hinshaw genealogy and it has Crawford and Crofford in it. I just listed the last name of Crofford and a lot of names came up listed alphabetically. There are other last names also. Hope this helps. Maxine.
saw the following Crawford info posted on the Phayette cnty mail list. judy 1880 14th Jun PENNSYLVANIA FAYETTE CO South Union Twp., ED 52, page 20 and 21 House #188 CRAWFORD, Daniel, white, male, 49 yrs., married, laborer, b. I am looking for any information on Augustus Crofford. He died at Falls City Nebraska. I do know he was married to Elizabeth Zumbrun. that is about all I know. He would be my great grandfather. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks to all who responded about my stupidity at using the Crawford Database. DUH! Guess I should have figured they were all Crawfords. I'll try again. Maybe you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! : ) Marilyn
How do you change or delete a spouses name in the Crawford Web Base? I am sorry, but once again I am working on this option. Send me any changes that cannot be made the current Edit function and I will make these changes for you. This would be changes to Spouses, names, or Edit to comments. I am working as fast as I can, but you will have to be patient with me. I have not advertised this database yet, may be why some have not been contacted through it. I had hoped to have more options finished, but I can see this is not gonna happen. To avoid confusion for some folks, William Floyd and Mark Floyd and leonardz are all the same person, me! I will try to stick to one name from now on, leonardz, ok? There has been some confusion on the chat room I have set up for the Crawford family also. This room is working. If you come to it and it appears to be empty. It is because no one is there. I am talking about using Virtual Places. You will not see anyone unless you use this program. You will not find this room listed in the Virtual Places directory. You have to type the address into the url at the top of their browser. Once again, I want to warn anyone using Virtual Places, these are chat rooms, anyone can and will come in. Their av's as they are called, which are pictures a person choses to use to present themselves to others in the rooms, can be xxx rated. So please be aware of this! Even in the geneolgy room! With this program, any web site can be chosen as a chat room. Just type the url in and zoom you will go there. If someone else using VP is also at that url at the same time as you, you will be able to chat with this person, in real time! I thought this might be a useful tool, not for the lighthearted!!!!! My mistake, it takes patience here. Lots to learn! I do hope that everyone can find this site useful. It is free now and always will be free as long as I have it. I will not nor do I intend to profit from any of this information. Finally, when searching the Search Full Name option in the webbase, currently it is best to use only one name, I am working on another option to allow 2 names, but currently it only looks for an exact match. So Sam Joseph, will not find Samuel Joseph and Samuel will not find Sam. It is best to use a lest as possible while doing a search to find all possible spellings. I would use Sam or Jos to look for the name mentioned above. Good Luck to all, leonardz
Further to this thread on a site for gathering information, would anyone care to look at the following. It is a site in Victoria Australia whereby anyone is invited to put their first known family in Australia, onto this site, to share. There is also provision for a story on this family and its descendants. In the future it will be collected and filed in the State Library. There is a forum section, a guestbook and a search area also. It is easy to use, clear and well liked by those who do use it. Perhaps something like this, would be a help to the Crawfords................. http://www.firstfamilies2001.net.au ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Denise Marriott McMahon Brisbane Queensland Searching -CRAWFORD, NE Victoria, USA, Ireland, Scotland HAEFFNER, NE Victoria, Germany HALL, Victoria, England MARRIOTT, Victoria, England PINNER, Tasmania, Victoria, England
I have to agree with Maxine. There is nothing more annoying than finding what you are after, to discover you must order a CD. I am quite happy to give all I have to a centralized web site for Crawfords, as long as it is free to others. Isn't this the idea? I submit, and in the future, someone is able to make the connection to the family, and easily. If any site is used just to gather information for monetary gain, I am not interested. I must take this opportunity to say I have been given loads of information from Crawfords found thru contacting other Crawfords and most of whom I have seen submit to this mailing list. Thank you sincerely ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Denise Marriott McMahon Brisbane Queensland Searching -CRAWFORD, NE Victoria, USA, Ireland, Scotland HAEFFNER, NE Victoria, Germany HALL, Victoria, England MARRIOTT, Victoria, England PINNER, Tasmania, Victoria, England

Marilyn I had the same problem (putting in the full name, ie, Henry Crawford) until I remembered that we were searching the Crawford database, therefore Crawford is by default. When I put in Henry only, in my case, I got a a bunch of Henry's and they all have last name Crawford (by default) even though they don't show. We've got so much attention now that I am having trouble getting on. Chuck
Lee, I think you have a great idea. What we need is documentation for the marriages, deaths, births, censuses that we have. It is possible to have many dates but if you don't know where they came from, they don't mean a thing. At least that is the way I see it. So we need to go slowly and have proof of what we are doing before going on to something else. To the best of my knowledge, I descend through Archibald Crawford 1772 and Peggy Brown, their daughter Sytha Crawford and Joseph Bowman, their daughter Armina Bowman and Elihu Bowling and their son Marcus Delaney Bowling and Mary Frances Fowler. I have documentation back through Elihu and I have a picture of Armina that has come down through the family. I know the proof is out there if I can just go get it. Thanks for volunteering to do this. Maxine Bowling Friedly MRBOB625@aol.com wrote: > I have been reading the E-mail on this suggestion and I think it will work. Was there somone on th List who was inquiring or had info on Carter Crawford? Please contact me, if you do. Wanda wrtracy@juno.com
Maybe I just haven't given the search options a fair shake, but I tried the "Search Full Name" option just now for both my William & James Crawfords and they didn't come up this way. When I put in a full name (i.e., James Benjamin Crawford,Jr.), it gives me the "Sorry" message. If I just type in the first name "William" I got a bunch of Williams - with no last names. Marilyn
I was having trouble also finding my William & James Crawford, whom I KNEW were in the Crawford Database because they came up when I searched by date or place. Guess I figured the default(?) search option of "List Alphabetically" should bring them up. I'll have to be sure to use the "Full Name Search" feature. Thanks to Debra Clausen & Mark Floyd for setting me straight here. Marilyn
Marty, Hi. I'd be interested. There could be a relationship between my Crawfords and yours (i.e. aunts, uncles, siblings). thanks, Marc McCune http://www.geocities.com/Athens/4660/roots.htm Marty wrote: > > I have Tyrone County Crawfords, but they are much earlier than yours. Sorry Mark but I had your and William's name in my address book. My thanks goes out to you on the crawford website also. Wanda I appreciate all you are doing too. Know it keeps you busy. Thanks Maxine
I have put some things on the web site that William Floyd is over and I am glad that we do have that site. I guess I get impatient searching and would like for the info to get to me faster. I do get frustrated to find the name of my ancestor only to get to some sites and you have to order a cd or pay for the info. That I do not like. If they get it from the internet and publish a disk I suppose that is ok but the information that submitters do submitt should still be accessable for free. William I will try to submit some more records to your site. Hopefully they will help some one. I appreciate the efforts of all who are trying to help us all. Thanks from Me Maxine
I have been reading the E-mail on this suggestion and I think it will work. I haven't seen anyone volunteer to start the data base so I'm going to volunteer. If someone has already started, please let me know. My suggestion would be to start off with one category, work out the bugs and expand to other category's.(Births, deaths, census, etc.) I would like to start with marriages as I have hundreds of names collected by my sister, the late Janis Crawford Wilson. What do you think? Robert Lee Crawford, Sr.
