    3. I have more brick walls than anyone would believe.. Trust me, any scrap of information I get I twist it every way possible to see if it fits what I need; if it doesn't , maybe it will for someone else. I would have given up long ago if I didn't believe that for every person who ever lived there is a paper trail somewhere. Sometimes we only need one link to bring together all the boxes, books, etc. of material gleaned through the years. Who knows, I may have yours, you may have mine. I'll take it any way I can get it. 3. Carol, I have forwarded your response to me to the "list". It is important since we are being given a chance to voice our opinion that they have this info. I hope that is okay with you. To answer you----you bet. I'd even appreciate a few "wild-goose chases" if there was even a slight chance I'd find someone by the end of it. On some lines, I've reached the point that I don't have the slightest idea of what to try next. 3. re:Another question - your template gives a place for a name variation, but still shows CRAWFORD after that, and CRAWFORD as father. How then do we get the variant surname shown? You caught me here before I could fix it. I am in the process of fixing this problem, please be patient with me. I have the variant fixed under the individual, it is when the variant shows up as a parent that I am workin on. re:Will/do you have a place that someone from a given county could simply key in marriage/birth/death data etc found in their own county? Currently the only data entry I have is as an individual. I am not sure as to what you are asking. You can search this database for any country or state/province, in both Birth and Death, however marriage is alittle different. I will see what I can do here. I will add the variant name crofoot to the database. Thanks for your patience once again, leonardz

    3. re: Your motives and intentions are wonderful. I like the idea of your data base. But why not add only sourced and documented data to begin with. Won't it help people more in the long run to be able to see that each item/date has been documented and sourced? Wouldn't that be better than perpetuating mis-information; better than trying to sort & correct it all later after alot of erroneous data has been entered? hummmm, good question. I think I will wait before I give my opinion here, I would like to know how others feel about this? Please folks, let's hear your thoughts, Mark Floyd leonardz

    3. I noticed my name was there as a submitter where did they get that info. Are they taken off the guestions that we ask. Because now im listed as the submitter and what if im incorrect on the info I was asking for help with. Not that I dont mind sharing but that scares me what if somebody puts down something because its listed there. Most of my info at this date is given to me I have no data on where it came from. Thats what Im tring to do at this point. Please do not get alarmed here. I have made several entries some time back from queries made elsewhere. I have since stopped doing this. Anytime I made an entry, I tried to notify the individual involved, some address never replyed. I will remove anyone who does not wish to be listed, simply let me know and I can do this very easily. This information is not made to be fact, it is a starting and gathering point for folks doing research. I am sure there are alot of errors here. But it will hopefully allow us to correct some of the errors, by letting others know where we stand. If we combine what we have, hopefully we can get farther along. If you see something that you feel is not quite right, you can easily add a comment for others to view, or let me know and I will try to correct the problem. I am in no way an expert in genealogy, the crawford family, or any other field here. I am simply trying to make research efforts alittle easier for all. I do not sell this information, or plan to in the future. This database is free for personal use only. Not for profit. Anyone taking this information needs to know to take it at face value, some list their sources others don't, it is entirely up to the individual involved. All ideas, suggestions, or comments appreciated. Thanks you for your time, Mark Floyd leonardz

    3. I do not quite understand can you put marriage records if you are a live in Database No, please do not put information on living folks here. We do not want to cause any kind of problems for anyone concerned. These marriage records are for previous generations, not folks that are still living. Thanks, Mark Floyd leonardz

    1. Should we include un-sourced information?
    2. Dear Mark, etal, Regarding the issue of whether or not to include un-sourced data in the data-base: While we all agree that "sourced" information is more desirable and valuable than "un-sourced", in the absence of sourced data, I'll take unsourced any day. Last week, this same of issue of requiring 100% accurate and proven information almost got a wonderful death index database for the state of Missouri shut down. I believe that to strive for this level of perfection is wonderful, but to expect it or demand it is unreasonable. Even the LDS site doesn't try to confirm or guarantee the accuracy of any of the information on their site. And I suspect we all know that any information submitted by others needs to be independently verified. Even if I state a source, you would be wise to do your own confirmation. What if I accidentally made a typo? Or what if I were one of those individuals who were careless enough to keep sloppy records, or mean enough to intentionally put false information with fictitious sources on the internet? Would we allow genealogical books and magazines as sources? Just because it was published on paper doesn't make any truer than being published on the internet. I'm afraid if we insist on sourced and documented information, the next step will be to make everyone submit copies of their documentation. While that would save the recipients a lot of time and money, it would surely bring this whole sharing process to a grinding halt! As for me, I have several dead-ends and brick-walls on which I would joyfully accept any clue, sourced or unsourced. Respectfully, Debra Claussen In a message dated 10/30/1999 6:57:20 PM Central Daylight Time, webmaster@cobnet.com writes: << But why not add only sourced and documented data to begin with. 3. I have a question regarding the required email address for submitter........What if someone would like to enter information, but not leave their email address ? Is this possible ? Yes, however in order for the database to detect that this is not an email address, please use the word Resource first, such as: ResourceMarriage ResourceCensus1810 ResourceBook ResourcePrint Then as contact list, the Book Title, the Magazine's Title, the Census' Country, State, County. Then in the comments: list things such as, author, publisher, dates, what census says, etc. I do hope this answer your questions. If you list the Country, State, County for any Resource, under contact, it will make that individual show up in a map in the future. This will be awhile in coming though. Good Luck with your research, leonardz

There was a listing of a family tree that listed a John Crawford, b 24 Jan 1800 in Miffin Co. PA, died 12 Mar 1896, Afton, Union Co. Iowa, married Mary Suiter 12 May 1831 Lawrence Co. Ohio. If this is your family, check out the entry. There was more info, but I listed only the Crawford entry. Hope this helps someone. Jan
