Discovered a possible home site for my Crawford line in Buffalo, Iowa. An old letter I found says a nephew had "left Tuscon and returned to Buffalo". I assumed NY, in fact, I've been looking in NY. I discoved about 10 minutes ago that there is one in Iowa too. Hope this rings a bell with someone.

Hi all, I am new to this list and pretty new to genealogy. Most of my Crawfords come from the Delamere area of Cheshire UK. But 1 line went to America (George 1870-1960) he married a Anna Stella Chervenka. They had 9 children Ellis,Ray,Fred,Charles,Gordon, Mildred,Edith,Ethel and Harlan. I have a letter dated Sept. 1972 from Edith to my GT. Grandfather Tom Crawford. I have been trying to extract any details from the letter that may lead me to tracing anyone from this family. My American geography is not up to much (does anyone know of any good online maps?) but the letter is addressed from Rugby North Dakota It seem though that George himself lived in Oregon. Edith states that she lives "right in the north center part of the United States just 30 miles from the Canadian border" She also writes " I do bookkeeping for a corporation called C.+G. Inc. The C stands for Crawford. My brother Charlie is the president and brother Fred was the vice-president and I am the secretary-treasurer. We are just completing our 25th year of the corporation although we were in business before that under a different name. We sell hardware, furniture and lumber and also have a large warehouse to store our extra purchases." Does anyone know if this company is still trading in the U.S.? Does anyone recognise anybody or know of anything that will help me in my search? Many thanks and happy hunting to all! Thanks for the tip, Katherine. I did a quick search for some of my ancestors this morning with some success. However, when tried to search the "Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots", got a message saying that it was "Available only to members". : Marilyn -----Original Message----- From: Katherine Southard <katsouth@mindspring.com> To: CRAWFORD-L@rootsweb.com <CRAWFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, November 11, 1999 7:25 PM Subject: Free military databases >This came from another mailing list.... Dear List Servs; It was recently brought to my attention that Zachariah Crawford would have been to young to have children, as I have him listed below, but he is in the 1850 Rockingham census as being 55, with the family I have. Any suggestions? I'm really confused on this now... ZACHARIAH2 CRAWFORD, son of JERIMIAH, was born 1795 in Rockingham Co. VA. He married LEIVY. >>Children of ZACHARIAH CRAWFORD and LEIVY are: i. JOHN CRAWFORD, b. 1806. ii. OBEDIAH CRAWFORD, b. 1807, Virginia. iii. GEORGE W. CRAWFORD, b. 1812, Virginia. iv. ROBERT CRAWFORD, b. 1821; m. SARAH. The information above gives Zachariah's birth as 1795. He would have been age 11 and 12 when the first two children were born. Could John b. 1806 and Obediah b. 1807 have been brothers? Or sons of another (perhaps Zachariah's uncle) Zachariah? I, too, am looking for a Zachariah Crawford who lived in Rockingham Co. I have seen listed a Zachariah Jr and Zachariah Sr as serving in the militia 1815-1817. Any ideas? Mae
I am looking for info about either of these 2 brothers who married Search sisters in NJ in the late 1700s. The moved from NJ to PA. Martha
