    1. Joseph Crawford
    2. Mary Thompson
    3. Thanks for the replys. Do you know any of the siblings of the Joseph who died in Union Co., SC in 1869 ? If he was 80 when he died, that means he was born in 1789, my Joseph was born in 1790, could they have been related ? Joseph and Mary Ann "Polly's" children were: 1. Mary Ann Crawford, b. 1817, Rowan Co. NC, m. W. H. Houston, then John Denson 2. Katherine Crawford, b. 1820, Rowan Co., NC, m. William H. Riggs 3. Phebe Clementine Crawford, b. 1823, Rowan Co.,NC, m. Joseph R. Yaraorough 4. James M. Crawford, b. 1825, Rowan Co., NC, m. Nancy Thomas, Mary Bradley 5. John Edward "Jack" Crawford, b. 1830, Tipton Co., Tenn., m. Catherina (Katherine), Sarah Jane Hall 6. Thomas H. Crawford, b. 1834, Tipton Co., NC, m. Alpha Cutler 7. George Washington Crawford, b. 1836, Tipton Co., Tenn., m. Amanda Caroline Gaston 8. Narcissa Crawford, b. 1838, Tenn., m. James Douthit 9. Robert Crawford, b. 1843, Houston Co., Texas 10. Nancy Crawford, b. 1832, Tenn., m. Hiram McCarty, Unk Walker, Lina Helm, William David Ferguson, R. C. Farris 11. Jane Crawford, b. before 1825, m. Douthit There is a George Washington Crawford in the 1790 Rowan Co., NC census, who served in the Rev. in SC according to the DAR, in the census he has a one year old and a four year old. According to the DAR his wife was Sarah Kirby, I wonder what, if any, connection there is here. There is also a Joseph Crawford in the same census in Cabarrus Co., which is just below Rowan Co., he remains on the census rolls thru the 1800's, after Joseph and Mary Ann have moved to Tenn., who was this Joseph, and is there any connection ? Thanks to everyone for for the help, Mary

    3. I am finding lots and lots of stuff on assorted crawfords, but since the name I seek is Crawforth--and not in the Us, excep0t for, i beleive a brief stint in the Union army during the civil War by a crawforth ggrandfather who arrived in Phila in 1860 from England, got drafted, served ina couple of battles, said "The heck with this!" and sent word to his wife to meet him in Canada, after which he deserted and fled to Ontario. It could not have been long after 1860, as she ended up making a trip in winter through Canada overland with all their children. Anyway, I am having no luck finding Crawforths, and am beginning to feel that the Crawford list will not be helpful, thoug h it is as close as I can get to Crawforth. Does anyone have any ideas? (I don't know the ggrandfather's first name--his daughter, my grandmother, was Beatrice Martha Crawforth born in Ontario in @ 1893; she had several siblings, but I can only recall Bertha and Matthew and Alma and Sade. ) Thanks for any help you can give. Judy

    1. FYI Adam CRAWFORD
    2. Hi all, Found this while doing some Canadian research.......... Adam CRAWFORD 1772 - ____ BIRTH: 1772, Frederickbury, MD USA Family 1 : Marie-Madeleine GRANGER MARRIAGE: 9 Sep 1800, St Martinville, St Martin Par, LA USA He is listed in a gedcom file as described below and, below that, the web site. I did not take the time to find how he "fits" into the Acadian lineage in New Brunswick since he is the only Crawford in the list; except the LA connection. >From the page owner: The "Master Data Base" contains information on ALL "Acadian" surnames. It has 40,516 individuals & 16,618 families. It is a compilation of the many researchers who generously allowed me to use it in an effort to provide maximum information to other researchers. In the case of large family trees they are in seperate Data Bases. Everyone is encouraged to provide information to this "Master Data Base". http://genweb.net/~hebert/db1 Happy Hunting. Chris

    3. Crawford List: I don't think I can let Marilyn's remark about Matthew Crawford go by without comment. I can't articulate exactly WHAT I felt in reading her response, except to say that it seemed an unfair and unnecessary condemnation. He was branded a thief....so what.....there are much worse deficiencies among man....such as bigotry and the exploitation, abuse and killing of innocent little children for starters. As for Matthew, we don't KNOW what was in the HEART of the young man or the circumstances that led to his incarceration. He died at age 20 in prison....what might he have become with decades to assess and perfect his flaws? Is there character criteria for inclusion in one's genealogy??? Were it so, I suspect that more than a few of us wouldn't make the final cut.
