I received this tip from another list! And thought it was worth sharing!! If you receive the 2000 census forms through the mail, make a copy of it before you mail it back. Put the copy in with your family research. This way your descendants will not have to wait 70 years to learn about you! Claudette M. Katherine, you need not delete *anybody* ! In FTM, at least, all you need to do is go to your mother's Family Page and create a report of her ancestors. From there, you should be able to export just the people in her family tree (File, Export) -- in GEDCOM format for most flexibility, or in FTM format for fellow FTM users. For the sake of convenience, I have created Import & Export folders in my FTM directory, so it's easy to save family branches for sending to "cousins." Anne Follmar CRAWFORD Lurie Raleigh, NC
Katherine, I'm not familiar with Family Origins, but do use FTM ver. 6.0. This is the very simple method I use to create a file (GEDCOM, or other) to send a specific line to someone: Create an "Outline Descendant Tree" on your screen (from the "View" Menu), beginning with your earliest known ancestor. From there, go to the "File" menu & click on "Copy/Export Family File". When the "New Family File" window comes up, you can tell it where you want to create the file (in FTM, or on a disk), and in what format (i.e., GEDCOM). Think this would probably be simpler than trying to delete people from a file.
