Hi all - I've got a Crawford dead end in the area of Virginia that became West Virginia. Is anyone out there researching in that geographic area? Thanks! Kerry www.kerrygans.com
Zillah Ann Crawford, AKA Zilley was born 12/1822 in Alabama according to the census. Traveled to Texas about 1837 in a wagon train with relatives. About 10/1837 she married P. W. Owen ca the now Houston, TX area. They received 1280 land grant in TX, had 10 children & they are my great grand parents. Her father may have been a John, she may have been illegitimatize, and was probably one half or more Cherokee. May have lived in middle TN with relatives. Please help me someone! Thank you, Wanda
Hi Guys and Gals s I am a Crawford from Canada. My ggrandfather was Rev. James Crawford who immigrated from Ireland sometime prior to 1851, he is believed to be the brother of Samuel Crawford of Wiarton Ontario area who immigrated to Canada from County Donegal Ireland in 1846. James homesteaded in the Parry Sound Ontario area about 1870 and died there in 1883. I presently live in that area………Garry Crawford On Aug 2, 2012, at 5:23 PM, Sharon Brobst wrote: > Hi Ida and Lisa, > > I am researching Crawfords who may be from Canada, specifically Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. My Crawford ancestors came to Canada from "northern" Ireland in about 1820. You can find out a lot about us at the website http://crawford_family.tripod.com/ There are some of our relatives in Alaska and the western USA, but we have lost track of them. I don't think their information is on Crawfords in Quebec. The site is not as up to date as it used to be as the person who set up is not well Charles Crawford On 2 August 2012 15:23, Sharon Brobst <annebrobst@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > Hi Ida and Lisa, > > I am researching Crawfords who may be from Canada, specifically Ontario, > Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. This site is certainly active again and I would like to throw my ancestor into the ring again. Davids are just as plentiful as James and I seem to be getting nowhere. David was living in New York state (possibly Long Island) and was a royal loyalist soldier in the American Revolution. He and his sons (Jacob, Henry, Caleb, and Joseph) were granted land in Home District, Ontario in 1807 as a soldier and sons of a loyalist. I have records of these land grants which is the only documentation I can find on David. I don't know if he was born in America or immigrated here, and I've found no record of his burial place---probably in Pickering/Whitby area of Durham county, Ontario. My ancestor, Jacob, was born about 1781 in New York, granted land in Whitby, died after 1851 in Bosanquet, Lambton co., Ontario. Thanks for any assistance you can give.

Oh my Gosh.Thank you again to everyone..Harriett.I will check out the message boards..and Dennis..yours are the John and James I am looking for..I sent you an email. The book states that ".the Crawford Families of Rutland and Oakham, Mass., who came to this country in 1713, were descended from Aaron Crawford, who was born in the Parish of Cappy, County of Tyrone, Ireland." Barb.sent you an email as well. I was just flipping thru the book that I ordered "The History of Union, Conn".(have not had a chance to really look at it yet) and almost fell over..it even has one of my Wymans in it that I did not know about...If there is anything I can look up for anyone please email me. It is on line and the on-line version has a search feature which would actually give you the page number. Again, these books are not totally reliable but they are a starting point. You are great listers!..Have a good day.Wendy
Good luck, Wendy! It took me 13 years to find my grandfather, but persistence paid off (at least I "think" it did). No way for me to know 100% that the guy I found (in a cemetery) is my grandfather, but I'm claiming him! Some families are almost impossible to figure out, as you know. ----- Original Message ----- From: Wendy Deakins To: CRAWFORD@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, July 31, 2012 9:43 PM Subject: [CRAWFORD] FW: Thank you Thank you for the replies to my post about the brothers from Scotland via Ireland and on to Conn..One of the brothers had his wife and sons with him and they shipwrecked.
