If you can find copies of Descendants of Moses and Isabell (Clark) Crawford of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, pub. in 1993 and The Brothers Crawford: Colonel William, 1722-1782 and Valentine Jr., 1724-1777 pub. in 1995 written by Allen W. Scholl printed by Heritage Books, Inc. you might find the folks you are looking for. There are copies at Ohio Genealogical Society, Ross County Genealogical Society and Pickaway County Genealogical Library all in Ohio. Mr. Scholl died some time ago and I do not know who owns the right to reprint them. Perhaps Penn State University where he retired. They are in sets of two each and in paperback form. My grandmother was a Crawford with Ancestors back to the State of Delaware but I do not think mine are related. The above books are indexed with both Crawford and related families. Larry, There were descendants of a Moses Crawford who lived in those counties in TN. Part of the family moved to Arkansas, probably grandsons. East Tn was formed from part of NC. I was and still am searching for my great grandmother Zillah Ann Crawford born 1822 in AL, probably lived in Middle TN for a time, went to TX in a wagon train, married Pinckney W. Owen by Oct 1, 1837. I believe Larry W. of the reerun address might have had a connection to a brother of hers. I really need to discuss this with Larry W. Elise Mae Jones Crawford, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 1st, 2012, in her home after a long illness. Mrs. Crawford was born in Pamplico, SC on August 12th, 1928. She was a daughter of the late Walter James Jones and the late Marie Barrineau Jones. Mrs. Crawford was a widow her first husband, Ocie Miles, Jr., and of her second husband, Manley M. "John" Crawford. She was a dedicated homemaker and a life-long member of Coward Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family of Mrs. Crawford will have calling hours from six until eight o'clock p.m., Friday, November 2nd, 2012, in the funeral home. Funeral services for Mrs. Crawford will be held at two o'clock p.m., Saturday, November 3rd, 2o12, in the Coward Pentecostal Holiness Church. She attended Mary Washington College in Virginia and graduated from Converse College in Spartanburg. Adrienne was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was a member of numerous book clubs. She was an avid painter later in life. For over 25 years, Adrienne and Baxter were familiar faces at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School where she was a home room mother and in the PTA when her children attended and later while enjoying Grandparents' Days. Surviving are her children, Henrietta Crawford Joye (Michael), Baxter Lindsay Crawford III (Bunni), Davant Crawford Keenan (Dean); her grandchildren whom she adored, Baxter Lindsay Crawford IV, Elizabeth Hanahan Joye, Crawford Legrand Joye, Adrian Lawrence Keenan, Catherine Davant Keenan; her stepgrandson, Grayson M. Hart. She is also survived by two brothers, Thomas Stovell Davant V (Mary Jane), Marvin Noel Davant (Reba); sister-in-law, Mary Frances Crawford Fitch; beloved nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Louise Singleton whom she loved dearly. Hi David! I have very little on my Crawfords. There are two: The first is Barbara J. Crawford. She was born around 1825 in Virginia (likely the part that is now WVA). She married John D. Crookshanks around 1847. They lived in Fayette County, WVA for their adult lives. It is said that Barbara's grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee. They had 10 children: Austin F., Alberta Isabell, Mary Virginia, Euphrates, Amarilla, James William, Martin L., Aiken Snyder, Joseph A., and John Sherman. The second is Octavia Ellen Crawford, born about 1828. She married Henry Hedrick 23 April 1847 in Greenbrier, VA (now WVA). They lived all their adult lives in Greenbrier, as far as I can tell. They had 8 children: Marchal M., Arvison, Louisa Irabien, Liviga Wergman, Ledonah F., Lorena or Serena, Floyd D., and Leroy. Barbara's daughter Mary Virginia married Octavia's son Liviga Wergman. I have often wondered if Barbara and Octavia might have been sisters or cousins, given the proximity of their birth dates and places. If either of them rings a bell, I'd appreciate any info!
