Dear Susan,My records only go back to John Crawford (wife unknown) His children were Moses, Samuel & James b. abt 1747 Shenandoah Valley, VA. James, a Revolotionary veteran, married Elizabeth England abt 1772 Scurry co. NC.Their children were; John, Moses, Sallie, Betsy, Joseph, Vineyard, Jessie H., Casandra, Rachael, Mary Elizabeth, Colby, Samuel, & Russel J. (several of these children,as adults, moved to Arkansas, Texas and Indiana, etc.) Moses b. abt 1776 Wataga Settlement, NC d. abt 1834 Lawrence co. AR (now Sharp co.) Moses married Mildred Vest 1805 Franklin co. GA. Their children were: Colby,Salathiel, Alton, Rodney, Ollie, Vineyard, Russel. My records are not well organized and my memory is not as good as it was, but I don't seem to have anything further about Rodney.I feel sure that this Moses and Colby are buried in the Crawford cemetery. It was surveyed in 1842, but the first momuments were about 1859. Before that they used flat stones as headstones. My brother and I still own the farm adjacent to the Crawford cemetary on land where the Crawford settled in the mid 1820's. Thanks for renewing my interest in family history. Dear Susan Stroud, I also have a dead end Crawford. As your father was from AK, might his family have been in the Crane Hill area? My g-g grandfather might have been from there. He was William J. Crawford. He married a Lizzie Bean who was born in Crane Hill, AK. The only trace of him I have is in 1871 when he married Lizzie Bean in LaGrange, TX. If your father has any relations by the name Wm. J. Crawford, please let me know.
