I don't know if you noticed this, but with Thomas and Laura Boone Cranston living in Marcy Twp. (later Duryea Borough), Luzerne Co., PA in 1880, you'll find a John Boone aged 31 there, also born in Ohio, but giving his parents' birthplace as Pennsylvania. It's possible he's her elder brother, and one of them is incorrectly reporting their parent's birthplace. The parents may have come from PA and briefly moved to Ohio before returning home. There are quite a few other Boones in Luzerne county at other locations who are possibly cousins or even their parents, e.g. Townsend and Mary Boone.
