She was born in Erie on October 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Jose' and Helen Spiller Osuna. Helen graduated from Mercyhurst High School and Mercyhurst College. Helen was a Health Advocate and worked extensively with the Hispanic community. She was lovingly called Donija Elena. She was also a member of the Community Health Net Board and the Board of Incorporators at Saint Vincent Health Center. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband William Cranston, a daughter, Eloise Gomola, a son, Phillip Cranston, and a great-grandson Xavier Thor. Helen is survived by two daughters, Nancy Fair and her husband Andy and Leith Thor and her husband Chuck, both of Erie; a son, Joseph Cranston of Erie; a son-in-law, Frank Gomola of Sheffield, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; two sisters, Marilyn Hernandez of Cleveland, Ohio and Eloise Osuna of Caracas, Venez! uela; and two brothers, Ralph Osuna of Hamilton, Ohio and Alfred Osuna of Germany. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Saturday, October 1st, from 6 until the time of service at 8 p.m. Private burial will be in Erie Cemetery.
